Monumentales Rathaus
Der Grundstein des Rathauses wurde 1865 von William Abbott Woods, Sligo’s Bürgermeister, gelegt.
Er stand vor einer großen Menschenmenge mit einer Band namens Sligo Rifles, die vor den Menschenmassen spielten.
Das Gebäude ist im italienischen Renaissance-Stil errichtet worden.
Der Uhrenturm bot dem Hafenmeister einen beeindruckenden Blick auf den Hafen, um den Fortschritt der Schifffahrt beim Einlaufen und Verlassen des Hafens zu überwachen.
Die Glocke, Anderson's Bell wiegt 812 kg, ist 1050mm im Durchmesser und ist mit einer Harfe, einem Kleeblatt und einer Krone Insignien graviert und trägt die Inschrift "Charles Anderson präsentiert diese Glocke an die Leute seiner Geburtsstadt A.D. 1877."
Der Uhrmacher war Gillet und Johnson und die Uhr selbst wurde von lokalen Eisenwarenhändlern Nelson Brothers geliefert.
Der Bau dieses schönen Gebäudes dauerte etwa sieben Jahre und wurde von Zeit zu Zeit durch Geldmangel erschwert.

Monumental Town Hall
The cornerstone of the town hall was laid in 1865 by William Abbott Woods, Sligo's mayor.
He represents a large crowd with a band called Sligo Rifles, who played in front of the crowds.
The building is decorated in Italian Renaissance style.
The clock tower gave the harbor master an impressive impression of the harbor, to monitor the progress of shipping to entering and leaving the port.

Das ist wieder mal ein fantastisches Gebäude, das du uns da näher bringst. Die Fensterbögen finde ich besoders gelungen. sie erinnern mich an das Intarsien Basteln mit meinem Vater vor..... einer Ewigkeit haha
Da haben wir oft auch so helle und dunkle Holzblätter nebeneinander geklebt und sie dann fein geschliffen, die sahen dann effektiv so aus wie diese braun hellen Fensterbögen.
