Laying the concrete

The day before yesterday, we poured concrete for the roof slab at one of our construction sites in Coimbatore. We sourced ready-mix concrete from a supplier and used a boom pump to lift and spread it across the roof area; this video demonstrates the process. First, the formwork—or "centering"—is constructed using steel rods, wooden planks, and iron sheets. This structure is supported from below by vertical posts and secured tightly to the walls with nails and wires, ensuring it is strong enough to withstand heavy loads. Next, the leveling is checked; the supporting posts are adjusted to ensure the surface is perfectly level. Once this is done, the concrete mixture—a blend of cement, sand, and aggregate—is poured. This mixture is prepared at the supplier's plant and transported to the site in a ready-mix truck. I recorded a video of the pouring process, which I am sharing here.
