The infamous Fiery Gizzard
Fiery Gizzard Trail, Rated 1 of the top 25 best hikes in the country!
Located in Tracy City, TN the Fiery Gizzard trail connects Grundy Forest and Foster Fall over the course of a 12.5 mile hike (one-way). The trail is rated difficult/strenuous, but man is it worth it. Caked in waterfalls, swimming holes and numerous rocky outlooks, with breath taking views. An 18,000 acre sink hole that you can descend into down a rock wall! A naturally formed sandstone arch-way, 19th century coke ovens to explore. Not to mention Native caves and fossils to be found.
All of these pictures and video's are from the first half of the trail.

I spent almost every weekend there for two years when I was climbing regularly. It is a gorgeous area.
Yeah, its addictive Im already thinking i might go back before the week ends. I went this last time purposely during a big storm to test my AT gear. Now, I want to go during nice weather lol
Hi @katecloud (I don't think you ever had a chance to respond to my previous email) and you are not in steemit chat (that I could see) but I wondered if you would enter my tattoo contest. I'm getting a tattoo of the steemit logo, but would like it stylized in a way to make it look even cooler. Design My Steemit Tattoo Contest and you can win 25% of the steem dollars. Again sorry about posting here in your comments, but I thought you might really enjoy showcasing your talents and I have opened the contest to a few tattoo artists locally as well. I'm excited to see what I will wear forever. Maybe it will be your artwork ☺
That tree was beautiful with the fungus on the side!
You didn't go full Bear Grylls and roast the snake, but I'm impressed that you were brave enough to take a picture. I love snakes, but they elicit such a strong emotion of fear in many people.
Hope the turtle left you with all of your toes!
Nice trip @katecloud i like the turtle..:)
Nice, upvote!
Wow, looks amazing. That snake's a bit scary- they're poisones right?
Yes, but not deadly...well, I guess they can be. Any-ways that was just a baby I didnt see any big ones. Thank goodness😉
Super! Beautiful route.
I hope you had a cot, the ground under the tent doesn't look very comfortable.
Thanks for the post.
Sleeping pad...worked great!😉
Tennessee is the greenest state in the land of the free.
Beautiful! My heart is aching for me to hit a trail. Thanks for introducing this one to me. I'll have to try to get down that way. It's now on my to-do list. How many days do you think it would take to do the entire trail?
Depends ...for an experienced hiker Id say 2 days one each way, and one night of camp. However, if you'd like to play around and have some down time Id recommend 3 days 2 nights.
Awesome! Thanks!
