Community reaction to HF20

in #hf206 years ago

These last few days i havent written much with all the changes with RCs happening. Mostly been having fun on discord participating in the HF20 meme nonsense. And i can say its been mostly fun. It seems to be that at large, the community is quite forgiving when it comes to waiting for changes to take place even though during the test a week back we had a blockchain freeze and all.
I would say im in the "forgiving" camp in all this inconvenience we ran into. As long as we are seeing change happening, and positive change at that im willing to give as many chances to the Steemit.inc crew and the witnesses. This is uncharted territory and there really isnt much devs can contrast their work to.

What i also understand is some people being, id say, pretty mad. I find that kind of reaction very shortsighted, self absorbed and foolish, but i can understand why some react that way. When my car stops in the middle of the road i kick it. Its stupid, but i still do it sometimes.
I assume those people are the ones that get mad at STEEM price dropping and snipe people on the street with angry looks when they ask for directions.

The "me me me, now now now" mentality is really counterproductive and leads to frustration and making rash decisions that in the long run can hurt you.
Ive seen people yell in the discord channels, making ridiculous claims, comments on HF20 announcements by other users with a need to emphasize how they are leaving....
What i dont think those people realize is that by doing so, once the blockchain stabilizes everyone that read their words, interacted with them, will probably look at them in a very different light.

If you cant have understanding for the situation we are all in together, then why should we have understanding for you?

Because in the end we are all in this together and when hiccups like this happen its even more important to stick together and help in any way we can. Not spread FUD and create instability inside the community.

You didnt pay a subscription fee to use STEEM that Steemit.inc is liable to you nor does venting frustration actually do anything good. Whats the point really?

  1. You are making the witnesses and devs more nervous which increases chance for them to make mistakes.
  2. You create animosity in your respective discord groups.
  3. You make others not like you. Most of us like disruptive technology, not disruptive people.

Anyways. Just a few thoughts. There has been quite a lot of this and i wanted to say... Keep it light, have some fun...
Things are going back to normal now, so in the end it seems there was no reason to get all worked up.

You can't tell me that's a thing.

Yes it is.. Simple as that. They were under a ton of pressure. I know. I talked to a few. And adding on more pressure doesnt help.

The only pressure there is is people expecting them to deliver. You have that everywhere.
