Amalgamate - British colonial architecture in India

in #heritage6 years ago

Not every day you end up finding places standing out among the ordinary. One such stay was at the WelcomHeritage Koolwal Kothi, Nawalgarh.

The place has a silent swag; that perfect amalgamation of Shekhawati and Brit elements. Definitely a good representative of British colonial architecture in India.

Constructed in 1934, it has a magnificent frontage with stucco decorative colonnades and a series of rooms organized around a central hall. The main building is a two– storied structure with frontal triple arche verandah openings and crowning parapets with decorative urns. The interiors are simple with very little decoration in the rooms. Made of Lime work the kothi reflects the regal times & grandeur of a by gone era. However, the emphasis is on bold and bright colors, and the openings are extenuated with multicolor borders or floral motifs, at times emulating tile or stonewall.

The furnitures are an extension of Shekhawati living and a lot of substance given to detail to recreate life as it was back then.

The famous Koolwal Haveli - built in 1931 this Haveli stands as a symbol of the grandeur of the bygone era.

Aaron Bernstein, interesting!

Oh yes. They take really good care of the property. A perfect match of Era gone by served with modern amenities

The building looks nice, I like places of historic importance. Glad that it is still maintained in good condition, great for a relaxing weekend. Thanks for sharing.

The architechture really looks nice.

This time Google overestimated our adventure spirit and took us from insides. We should do a ride covering hawalis and villages and trust me there's awesome content waiting to be explored

Great post! Come with me!
