Quiet hill-station tucked in the lap of nature - Chail, India
Hello Steemians,
Like many we too love snow but the thought of getting stuck and missing office on Monday did’t let us plan anything.
It was this time last year when one of our close friend confirmed snowfall in Chail. Since roads are mostly fine and barely 6 hrs of drive time we decided to visit Chail over the weekend.
Chail is a small hill-station in Himachal and is barely 50 kms from Solan (major town on Shimla road). The town is slightly off the tourist radar and you can expect some peace also the roads stay open throughout the year so no chance of getting stuck until once deliberately plans to.
Chail was originally a summer retreat for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and even has cricket ground/ polo ground which is there at an altitude of 2,250 m. Overlooking the valley of Sutlej, it enjoys pleasant climate throughout the year. Majestic snow-capped Shivalik peaks, beautiful orchards and sylvan pine valleys makes it a perfect gateway.
Lots of trekking trails lead from Chail to Shimla, Choor Peak, Kali Temple and other places. Angling is a popular activity undertaken in Giri River, a few kilometers away from Chail.

We did a small trek to the Stone Kumbh- Its a temple made by 1 man in 33 years with just stones
Since we were the only ones here, we had a great time playing with snow and clicking photos. Separate post on the Stone Kumbh will follow soon.

Wonderful Sanchit, yeah Chail is one quiet and peaceful place one can easily travel any weekend an enjoy the hikes around in the lap of fresh air. And you found snow which seems like icing on the cake 😊😊

Last year this time i was almost stuck in Manali. And this year same day, no snow in Kufri / Manali at all :(
