Hello steemians!

easy living steemit.jpg
Writing posts everyday can be exhausting. The constant stress and struggle associated with writing articles cannot be comprehended easily. While some post memes and poems, others spend hours writing articles, only to fall short of receiving any rewards for the content(not to say that steemit is only for rewards, remember to have the community at heart).

Steemit? visibility?

One look at the new page on steemit will show you the zeal and the drive at which people take steemit these days(you should know I'm talking about the sensible posts, not the thousands of junk filling up the new page these days).

See, once upon a time, the new page was where curators and people who wished to reward good content could easily go and pick up topics that where of interest to them. But as time went on, and more users joined, the new page become increasingly difficult to scan through, the influx of irrelevant posts and topics didn't help.

These days, several services have been set up to help find, scan, check and reward good contents.

chief of those services is the curie project.

this is an exempt from their official announcement from last year, which you can check out here

Contrary to popular belief, some of the largest whales had the same objectives that we did. They also were trying to find undiscovered content to upvote and reward. But they didn’t have enough hours in the day to sort through the increasing volume of posts.

Faced with an increasing number of newcomers, with new hopes, new dreams, new aspirations, and overall, new human stories… Some people thought that maybe some of us should offer our help, because otherwise it could be just a matter of time until we all start scrolling down the boulevard of broken dreams.

What are tags?

When creating a post, before you can post the post, you need to put up some tags.

You can put at most 5 and at least 1

Tags are those categories that increase the visibility you get in a post. After creating a post, it is expected that you use a relevant tag to get the maximum exposure to your post.

Now assume you create a post about schools and how schooling is great

The next step would be to find or use a tag THAT IS RELEVANT TO THE THE TOPIC YOU ARE POSTING ABOUT

In this case, the tags to use would be ''education'' ''school'' and any other tags you feel are relevant to the topic

Now the trick is you can use anything as a tag, but some tags are more popular than others. Those tags that are more popular have been used a lot of times and its often means that more people will be able to see your work if you use those tags.

A way to see the most popular tags is to click on the ''3 lines'' on the top right corner on your steemit page near your name;

Go to the explore button there;

and you'll be taken to a page where you see the most popular tags, along with the number of posts per tag, comments per tag and payouts per tag.

As a Nigerian, please note that using the Nigeria tag currently gives you access to curation from the community curators as part of a project called project bigwaves
if you do not know about project big waves, please read about it here

As an African, you can also get curation thanks to the project africaunited run by @dragonslayer109 , read about it here

As a newbie, the most important thing for you is to learn, learn how to use tags properly. This often involves reading other peoples blog, understanding why and how they use their tags.

Steemit isn't for lazy individuals who don't want to work or learn. Get out there, work.

i have a better understanding now, and will use tags properly.

nice to know this got the attention of someone

Those tags that are more popular have been used a lot of times and its often means that more people will be able to see your work if you use those tags.

This is pretty cool and great. I try to do search of tags that fit my post most times before i submit. However, sometimes tags are not sole determinant of post engagement. But it surely works. Cheers.

Most people do use tag for tagging sake, while most dont knw the usefulness or what it really entails.

This will help a lot, we learn everyday.
