Having a Learning Disability

in #health8 years ago

How can we handle a child having a learning disability? A person with a learning disability may understand or learn in a different way from others. For example, if a child with learning disability, plays card games, it is difficult for him to remember the rules and it is also difficult for him to learn and understand easily in school. It may take him longer to do the same than others on same age as him can do.

It is not helpful to tease or to laugh at his mistakes if ever he cant understand easily. He cannot change the fact that he has learning disability. He can only try to do his best. His best effort to learn may not be the same as his other classmates. But he differs only in learning and understanding. In many ways, he is like others his age. He needs and enjoys friends. He also loves his family. He needs to make adjustments so he will not have harmful stress. There are factors that can help a person with disability like his family. His family can greatly help him and to understand him. Another is his teacher. Teacher helps him to do his best in school and this teacher is trained to help anyone who has a learning disability so that the particular teacher knows how to handle this kind of person. In school, aside from the teacher, his classmates can also help. They can make adjustments so this child learning disability will not feel harmful stress. Maybe they can include him on their games or any group activities in school.
Indeed, person with learning disability is just the same with a. normal person. The only thing is that his learning is different from others.

Hello Miss @yen80.

I’ve read your post. And this is very helpful really. To SPED (special education) teachers and to parents who have a child with learning disability. I am very grateful and have read about your post because of this information I can learn also. There are many factors that we can see a child having an LD (Learning Disability or Disorders). For example a child has dyslexia (one of the types of learning disabilities), he or she is not able to read because it is difficult for him to do it and the reading comprehension. Having learning disability cannot be cured or fixed and it’s a long time challenge actually. The only thing we can do is to give the appropriate support and the interventions.

I agree with you, some people or children laugh at them because they have this disability, what they dont know is that, they are still beautiful and unique in some ways. What we need to let them know is that people should accept and embrace them in our society. Yes it is a challenge but if we support them, teach them with patience. With our support, they will achieve something in school, at work or even their relationships with friends and family.

You do have a great post miss.

What are the signs of a child having a learning disability? I'm interested because someone I know seems to have this problem with his son. There aren't a lot of education behind this which causes kids to have hard time at school.
