Investment in the Health Sector(Wafrica Guest Post)

Currently, as things stand there is a wide gap between the availability of health workers and the service required in low and middle-income countries. I vehemently believe that things would be way better if the governments would direct some more resources and focus on the health sector, the visual health to be more precise.

It is estimated that in the year 2030 to come 54.5 million health workers will be needed to ensure that the services required are able to be rendered. This is the same thing for the health sector, the number of people having vision problems ranging from pathologies to refractive errors keeps increasing every blessed day, as it stand statistics has shown that in the year 2015 the number was around 252 million however, is estimated to reach about 702 million, these numbers are menacing to the very existence of the health sector. The more we wait the more difficult it gets, the hurdles become more challenging in training the required number of the health professional to take up the mantle of providing the needed service.

It is high time we all rallied behind the health sector, this will surely get the government to recognize the need to improve and enhance the workforce for the health sector, it will be indeed a productive investment.
