Stress

Exercising after a difficult day is an excellent remedy for stress. Practicing a physical activity allows us indeed to sweep all our negative waves and to increase as a bonus our rate of endorphin ... only positive points! But what happens when you are too stressed to even think of going to the gym? We know that a certain level of stress can end up sabotaging your workout even before you have laced your sneakers. Read on to understand exactly how stress affects your body and how it can affect your workout, both negatively and positively.

IT DISTURBES YOUR TRAINING ROUTINE

When you face an important event in your life or you have gone a long way behind a project at work, you do not think about anything else. And what is the worst? You sacrifice the running you had planned for that evening to spend more time at work or relax on the couch. Stress has the unfortunate tendency to distract your mind and submerge your body, not to mention that it reduces the likelihood that you will remain true to your workout routine. Your motivation decreases and it is then much harder for you to reach your fitness goals when you have your head elsewhere. When your training is just one more element on your list of things to do, because of stress, the quality of your sessions suffers because you sacrifice the technique to be able to finish as soon as possible.

How to cure it :
Remember: stress is in your head. And the influence that it has depends only on you. Even if it is difficult to put its concerns aside, thinking about them will not make them disappear and things will certainly not be better. We advise you to combine your workout with other stress management methods, such as meditation. This will calm you down and help you stay focused and motivated.

NIGHT TO YOUR RECOVERY

It is normal to have slight aches after training, but when you are stressed, your muscles are also stressed and these effects are multiplied. The mental pressure exerted by stress robs your body of precious resources and you feel more mollasson and groggy than usual. Add some hard workout to it, and you'll end up completely emptied.

How to cure it :
Unless you want to take the risk of hurting yourself, it is important to leave your muscles (and your mind) time to recover after a stressful session. Are you sure you have given yourself enough time to recover? If you think about your next session, you are desperate and you are afraid of the next session, we recommend that you rest for another day or two to maximize the effectiveness of your workout.

IT DISTURBES YOUR CORTISOL RATE

Chronic stress affects your ability to regulate cortisol, a hormone that influences your metabolism, immune defenses, sleep patterns, and your blood pressure. With an irregular cortisol rate, you will feel emptied and tired, and will be more prone to weight gain and cravings for sugary and fatty foods.

How to cure it :
If you want to achieve your fitness goals, lack of sleep, associated with stress, represents your worst enemy, especially if your goal is to lose weight. Sleep is essential to regenerate your muscles after a workout, and you also need it the next day to start the day invigorated and full of energy. You can regulate your cortisol by going to bed early and enjoying a good night's sleep. You do not know how to get to bed early? In this case, consult our advice on how to fall asleep faster.

HOWEVER ... IT GIVES YOU THIS SUPPLEMENTARY WHIP

It is true that until now we have only spoken to you about the negative effects of stress on your workout, but here is the positive side: stress can also motivate you. This may seem contradictory, but it is undeniable that a slight increase in the level of cortisol, released after moderate stress, has a positive impact on performance. The only benefit of having experienced stressful situations is that you already know how to work under pressure. So you have more confidence in yourself, which can help you gain speed on a 10K or pick up a new PB on Kentauros. Not bad, is it? Instead of Stress as a hindrance to your success, try instead to see it as an obstacle that you have already crossed in the past and that you will have no trouble to overcome again. Everything is just a matter of mindset and if you use stress to fuel your workout, you will be surprised to see what you are able to accomplish. It is possible to channel stress to serve your success both on and off the field. By preventing this state of mind from sabotaging your workouts and concentrating instead on spraying your workouts, you will be more in tune with your body and able to achieve lasting results.
