DARK SECRETS OF SALADS

Eating Salad - is one of the healthiest food of human can consume. It has a huge benefits to our body, especially when it was made with lots of raw and natural ingredients.

Most of us are a patronizer of salad. We always promote in our family. But as they say, there is always a Bad thing in a Good thing.

Before you react, Let's find out.....


Did you know that some salads can be unhealthy ?...

Yes, you read it right. I am sorry for you to learn it.

In fact some Salads could be more worse unhealthy than a Ham burger. I bet you don't believe it.

Here's how :


Some salads could be worse than a hamburger IF :

  1. Salad that has full of heavy Dressings - It is a high in fats and calorie content (branded name salad dressings)
  2. Salad that has light or low fat Dressings - which is loaded in sodium and fructose, thus can inhibit the mineral absorption for the body
  3. The huge portion with lots of toppings and heavy dressings

Dressings :


  • The recommended amount for store bought branded dressing or ranch is TWO TABLESPOON.

It is always wise to read fat and calorie content labels before drenching them to your salads.

So, How do i dress my Salad?


  • make your own dressing with recognizable ingredients
  • you can make your own dressing at home using natural ingredients

We do love Salads, and i prefer it to make it at my home. It doesn't take 10 minutes to prepare it. It's easy and filling. very nutritious with lots of raw ingredients. Sometimes, I added some nuts for protein and extra flavor.

I usually make my own Dressing using :

  • extra virgin Olive oil, lemon/ lime, a dash of salt and pepper
  • apple cider vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and a dash of salt and pepper
  • orange juice, extra virgin olive oil
  • or, I just eat without dressings, sometimes it's nice without anything added, tasting all the greens with their natural flavors

Olive oil helps the absorption of minerals to the body

Benefits of salads


  1. boost immunity
  2. rich in natural fiber
  3. healthy fats
  4. controls weight
  5. protects heart
  6. improves complexion
  7. keep diseases at bay
  8. control blood sugars
  9. reducing bad cholesterol
  10. light and delicious

Salads are delicious and crispy, not to mention they are packed with essential vitamins and mineral needed for the body. we just needed to be careful with our input in sizes, portion and our dressings. otherwise, It would not be healthy as we thought.

We've been a quest for healthier eating habits, out of medical necessity, and my husband DOES love salads.. but when he HEAPS on three or more tablespoons of a creamy dressing, I cringe!

Tried explaining it to him and he has gotten better recently.. but still... sigh

Great post. Many do use the wrong or too much dressing. I grow "greens" even in the winter and try for dark greens, reds and purple. Read somewhere that they have higher nutritional value as compared to an iceberg lettuce. Then I add a lot of other veggies and fruits.

And yes, I believe so too, that purple veggies has high more nutitional value than a lettuce, though all the vegetables has all unique benefits.
