Might be becoming an asshole again and I'm working to fix it. Time to get in shape.steemCreated with Sketch.

In 2009 was maybe the height of my bad attitude. My ex-wife was totally ignoring me, I hated my 70 hour a week job and I was so out of shape and over weight. I was a late 30's asshole.

I noticed in the last year or so, that the asshole in me is starting to creep to the surface. I think most of my inner asshole comes from being out of shape.

Little over two years ago, I was trying to ride a modified 20" bmx bicycle 40 mph and was riding 200 miles a week on a kids bicycle like a real bad ass. 2 weeks after my 39th birthday, I walked 68 miles for relay for life. For my 40th birthday I rode a fixed gear bicycle 100 miles.

Being in shape has always been really important to me from my youth, and on occasion I have let this world creep in and take some of my childlike joy.

I don't want my babies to ever know that daddy was an asshole or ever see any sort of bad attitude in me.

From this point on, I'm going to Steem On with a little less asshole every day.

Sort:

Oh my gosh, look at the babies in diapers!!! My baby is 18 now - and not nearly as cute as these munchkins.
As for the asshole thing... Well, everyone has one so I guess we're entitled to let it fart once in a while. As for me - it's why I write fiction. If I want to be an asshole I usually just kill a character - or hurt them really bad. I call it therapy and my demeanor is usually quite nice. LOL

Very inspiring, I want to do the same.

@shla-rafia, it's time for us to pick ourselves up and start burning. Thank you for the comment

I wanted to do this already 6 months ago. The plan was to look like a sportsman in 2 years and now i only have 1.5 years left until I´m 40.
Got to start somehow.

@shla-rafia, you got this! Time to kick your own ass. I've been kicking mine all morning.

I too find myself being an asshole from time to time. We should start the "No Asshole Challenge Pledge" We could come up with a little badge to place on "No Asshole" blog posts and blog about the moments that we started to behave a bit assholish. The important thing is to catch yourself before you release the inner asshole...

@the-bitcoin-dood, it's a great idea my friend. We Steem On without the bad attitude.

Dam it! I need to get off my arse too. Sporadic swimming is just not cutting it.

@benjojo, we do it together.

Great post. It is so hard to maintain that "kid" in us all, that just sees the world as continually joyous. Life gets so busy, with so much craziness all around that jabs at us. Takes a real effort to say positive, and as a biker myself, so does it take effort to keep on riding. [I sure don't ride as hard as you do ( : ]For me, (trying to ) stay in shape really does improve my attitude...I think its blood flow, increased energy, endorphins, etc. And time is in such short supply, I have to almost make an appointment to get the bike ride in...and I don't even have little ones to fill that time. They are such a great inspiration, and a motivation to "de-ass", as you have pointed out. And very cute. Steem On.

@ddschteinn, thank you so much for commenting on my post. We steem On and continue to de-ass ourselves.

You are a great guy. There is not a trace of asshole in you :)

@ervin-lemarj, you're too kind. Not naturally an asshole, but my attitude could be better. We Steem hard.
