How I transformed my dusty, cluttered old basement that hadn't been touched in a decade, into my own personal Gym/Weights Room!

in #health7 years ago (edited)

I have been living in my flat for just over a year now. When I moved in I was shown the basement which was described as a shared storage are for the 6 tenants living in the block. It looked like this......

I knew straight away what I wanted to do with the extra space. I had been a keen fitness enthusiast as a teen and already had all of the equipment needed for a basic weights room, in the garage at my mums house.

With some hard work and muscle power, armed with a shovel, a brush, some workman's safety gloves and numerous rubble sacks, I soon had it cleared up so you could actually see the floor! I packed all the smaller junk into rubble bags and stacked all the furniture. I then got my mums partner to hire a van for a couple of hours (I don't have my driving license) and took all the rubbish to the local tip. The van was also useful for transporting all my weights and equipment from the garage at my mums house to their new home.

I used this for the flooring. I found it in the hardware store - B&Q, and needed a total of 6 packets. It was very easy to lay

Some finishing touches....

So I now have my very own gym right under my house. I plan on eventually getting a punch bag hung up in one corner and one of the walls mirrored. Overall though I am very happy with the results. Now I just have to get off my lasy ass and start using it!
