If you can gain weight, it takes time and dedication to lose weight. You have to have patience.

To lose weight, you should mainly focus on two things - exercise and eating healthy.

You have to burn the extra calories by doing exercise so that it will not store as fat. You can get up early in the morning and go out for a run, jog or walk. You can enjoy the fresh air and environment. It will refresh your body and mind.

If you are into gym, you can go to the gym and do your workout. You can do body weight training at home or anywhere you want. If you love yoga, you can go to yoga class or you can do yoga at your comfort zone.

If you like swimming, dancing or paying football, hokey, badminton or anything, just do that. It will help you to lose weight faster. You can do a lot of things. Do what you love and start from there. You can take stairs instead of elevators. You have to be active and keep your body moving.

Eating healthy is very important if you want to lose weight. What we eat, that directly affects our body. Eat vegetable and try to avoid processed foods. Drink enough water to stay hydrated.

The thing is, you have control on what you eat. To lose your weight, you have to choose food that is good for your health. We usually love food that is sweet and tasty, it feels good what you eat. But you should choose food based on its vitamins and minerals and how it affects on your body. If you can do that, you will see a change in your body.

Hope this answers your question.

A dozen years ago, I did this and it helped me to lose weight. I think it is a good starting point for everyone. The difficult thing is not to fall back into old habits afterwards!

Yes, that's right. Sometimes we think we will start tomorrow. And tomorrow we think we would start next day. Just get started, don't need perfect time or perfect situation for that.Start where you are and move on.

I'm not sure things are as simple as this when it comes to losing weight. It's not just about eat better or less and exercise more. There are quite a number of factors that may be playing a role in why an individual cannot lose weight.

You may want to check this article out, for example.

I used to work extensively with people trying to lose weight, and I can honestly say that in every case, eating better was certainly helpful, but not on its own. In many cases, they were trying exercise as that is the messaging that is constantly going out about weight-loss... and it was making things worse. Most commonly, there can be issues around the capacity for efficient digestion and metabolism - so it doesn't matter how good their diets are.

There can also be issues with eating inappropriate for their constitution or specific nutritional needs, even when they are eating foods most of us would label 'healthy' - in fact nearly every case I saw were already eating 'good' food, just not appropriate for them.

There can also be hormonal issues, most commonly with a hypo-functioning thyroid, more commonly Hashimoto's Disease, which is an auto-immune condition, that makes things even harder. Also, some people suffering from chronic fatigue can develop weight issues in their recovery phase. Not to mention the effects of sex hormones, especially in women after childbirth (usually also complicated by other hormonal and nutritional issues).

Then there are psycho-emotional factors. Emotional issues are a major factor in my experience, and most of the success I had with clients were around dealing with these issues. Again, these people were exercising and eating right, but still having trouble losing weight.

To be honest, I think its simplistic and unfair to simply say, "eat better and less, and exercise more". Most people suffering from incessant weight-gain (or lack of weight-loss) are already doing 'all the right things'. Those of us seeking to advise people on matters such as this should be more sensitive to the complexity and multi-system disorder that this is.

Yes, there are other factors as well. It might vary from person to person. By the way, is that your website?

No, that's not my website nor my article. I found it several years ago, and have bookmarked it and used to share it with clients.

Thank you so much @metametheus for taking the time to make this thoughtful comment. I really appreciate that!
