How healthy you live greatly influences how long you may live on this earth. Good health is a product of healthy living and healthy living is a product of healthy eating and exercising. Your functionality and productivity in life are greatly influenced by the state of your health. So it's of utmost importance that you take good care of yourself in order for you to stay healthy and continue to function optimally. Below are twenty things you need to know about health, fitness and longevity.

1. Living healthy is your sole responsibility:

How healthy you want to live is a choice that can be made by only you. And after making such choice, you have to find out what you need to do or stay away from, in order for you to achieve your goal of staying healthy. Your health is your responsibility and how healthy you want to live can be decided by only you.

2. Good health is not costly :

Living a healthy life is not costly at all. By simply paying attention to your body, you can maintain your state of health. It is when we fail to do the simple and cheap things that our bodies demand of us to stay healthy that the body starts malfunctioning and make us spend our resources to keep it healthy. Do the simple things your body requires of you and you'll never struggle with staying healthy.

3. Giving your body short rest at intervals during a busy day helps revitalizes it:

A 2 to 5 minutes rest during a very busy day can help keep your body in check. don't develop the habit of over stressing your body all through the day. Even in the tightness of your schedule, you can squeeze in 2 to 5 water break in between or whatever can ease the stress of the moment from your body. Working all through with no rest interval is a slow way of killing the body. Rest is very important for your body to function optimally.

4. The right amount of sleep is necessary to maintain a good health:

Some of us stress our body both in the day and at night. We don't give it time to replenish lost energy and revitalizes itself. Your body needs at least 7 hours of sleep every night to rebuild itself. Give your body the needed rest and you'll have no relationship with illness.

5. Avoid eating heavy food late at night:

When you eat heavy food at nigt before going to bed, your body uses the energy it would have stored for itself for your next day's work to process that food throughout the night. Your organs don't rest when you eat late. So you should avoid late eating if you want to stay healthy.

6. Not all foods are good for you:

Know the type of food that your body needs. What may be healthy for someone else may not be healthy for you. So know the food your body needs and give it only what it needs.

7. Too much consumption of fast foods may not be favourable to your health:

Prepare your own meals sometimes and don't be overly dependent on fast foods. You alone know what your body needs and in what proportion. Prepare your meal and your body will be thankful for it by staying healthy.

8. Avoid skipping breakfast :

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It prepares your body for the day's work. Always ensure that you take your breakfast before going out no matter how little because it helps bring your system to life and prepares your body for the day's activities.

9. Always include fruits in your daily meals:

Fruits are loaded with some of the vitamins not present in our meals. Taking them on a daily basis feeds your body with some of the vitamins it needs in their pure form and helps maintain the vitamin requirements of the body. Eat more fruits to keep your body healthy.

10. Most common illnesses can be avoided through a healthy lifestyle:

How healthy your lifestyle is will determine how healthy your body will be. Live right and your nody will feel riright.

11. Always keep your mind and emotion in check because the also contribute greatly to the state of your health.

Illnesses caused by instabilities in our minds and emotions can be avoided by keeping our minds and emotions in check. Guide what you allow into your mind and your emotions and health will be thankful for it.

12. Your body also needs regular exercising to keep it healthy:

Everytime you engage your body in exercising activities, you strengthen and revitalizes it. Your muscles and organs needs exercise to stay healthy. More oxygen is pumped into your body when you exercise. Develop the habit of exercising your body and the result will reflect in your health.

13. You can exercise anywhere and any time:

Most of us think that it's only in a gym we can exercise effectively. You can exercise anywhere. The little space in the corner of your room can be your exercising spot. Exercising your body don't have to be complex to produce results. Little stretches, morning or evening jogging etc can produce magic in your body. All you need is just the encouragement to be consistent in it.

14. Walking is also a form of exercising :

Don't be addicted to too much driving. Sometimes just abandon the car and take a walk. Walking is another way of engaging your whole body in active work and keeping your system healthy. Walking is the simplest exercise anyone can engage in daily. It's good for your health, don't neglect it.

15. When you fail to give your body the attention it needs, it will seek such attention from a medical practitioner and make you pay dearly for it.
16. Anything you do in excess that causes strain in your body is unhealthy for you. Don't over work your body or over pleasure your body. Both extremes are not good for your health.
17. Your body needs much water to stay healthy. So drink plenty of water, mostly during times when you're very busy and sweating to help replenish the water that your body has lost.
18. To much eating with no exercising leads to obesity: if you're a heavy eater and you also exercise regularly, your body will have no problem maintaining its health.
19. It's easier to accumulate fat in the body than to burn such fat. So be very watchful of your weight and what you eat.
20. Longevity is a product of healthy eating and living. When you eat right and live right, you stand a higher chance of living long.

Your health is your responsibility. So live healthy if you want to live long.
