4 amazing tips to fight fatigue during the day

in #health8 years ago (edited)

Did you sleep well last night? And did you start your day fresh? Then you're lucky. A large proportion of people are struggling with good sleep. Sleep deprivation does not only cause depression and stress, it also makes your skin old in a short period. This is not what we want, do we? Below are four tips to get well rested through the day.

Take a powernap: It's not surprising that you're tired during the day, actually most women do. Don’t fight yourself a way through the day, take instead a powernap. This is a short sleep to refuel your energy level again. The ideal powernap lasts 1.5 hours. In this 1.5 hours you are able to take a full sleep cycle, including your recovery sleep. People who are well rested are more productive, more alert and able to cope better with stress.

Provide sleep rhythm: It sounds so simple, and actually it is. Just go to bed and wake up around the same time every day. Adults sleep between seven and eight hours each night. Sleep quality in young adults is better than sleep quality in elderly people. Elderly people namely sleep less deep and are more awake during the night. The older you get, the less sleep you need.

Check your mattress: How old is your mattress? Secretly we all sleep too long on the same mattress, because we don’t think about replacing it after six years. Yet, a good mattress is very important for your sleep quality. Get yourself informed at a specialized shop.

More ingredients for a healthy sleep pattern: make sure your bedroom is dimmed, without noises and with a temperature around 16 degrees. In terms of sleeping clothes, we recommend loose-fitting sleepwear. Just realize: the night is a kind of mirror of the past day. If you were overactive and stressing all day, there is a big change you’re not sleeping well during the night. So, always try to relax before going to sleep.

Take a powernap
I can't do that. Once I go to sleep I am out for a good 2-3 hours lol..

Haha, I am sorry for you. But if you have the time, why not. Just remember a full sleeping cycle is 1,5 hours. So instead of one, you take two. (doubling your chances to be effective again XD)

Lol I guess so. I sleep more in the morning than at night. 😂

my naps always get interrupted with any slight sound,i feel like i'm going crazy!!!!

arghhh... I am sorry for you! earplugs?

i have deafness in my left ear,so i was told to do away with earplugs and air rushing into my other functioning one......

really? I you really have problems getting sleep, maybe you can ask for a night in a sleeping centre. They can give you like valuable tips for your situation :)

If sleeping makes people effective, I would be a super genius

lol! You probably are then

"So, always try to relax before going to sleep." - a good way to relax is to tense then relax every part of your body in turn, starting with your toes and working your way up to your neck and shoulders. Do 2 or 3 cycles and you should feel very relaxed.

Ha, thanks for sharing this! Yup, that's true. You talk about Jacobsons progressive relaxation techniques, do you?

Thanks for posting this. I think part of my own discouragement might have something to do with this...sleep being a bit off. You know, when you are up late/for hours working on an article that you have a lot invested in and then you wind up wearing yourself out? I didn't know you could recover so much with powernaps. I do them sometimes but I think now I will do them more often. Thanks so much!

You should! Hahaha. Well, my mother always told me that you sleep at night, not during the day, it is a wast of time. But you know what, not true! I you are tired and become ineffective, and you keep trying to finish your work. I will take you a lot more frustration and TIME, to finish. While if you take a small nap, you can handle your day better and work faster (or enjoy your day more)

I totally know what you mean. Feeling like, there's too much to do, so you keep going but because you are so tired, the things you need to do aren't done as well as they could be. I think the main problem for me is guilt...people around (ie, husband and older kids) that are so critical. Ie, you can't do that now, ha ha. I am going to have to start finding more ways to fight this. Sticking to my own schedule vs. what they think it should be. So I can have a few powernaps when I need them.

That would be great. And I know the feeling. People always expect things of you! You need to stay focused as well. And if you need a powernap to reach that, just do it. Try to forget about the guilt, maybe you can explain them why you need a powernap? There is plenty of evidence on the internet about powernaps as well :)

Okay, I am snapping out of my black cloud from this morning. Thanks so much!

You are so welcome!! Glad you find a way to snap out of it. You go girl!!

Thanks. You deserve a hug! ((hug)). I am all out of votes at the moment...I am new here and I guess I went on a voting spree, which I read about after the fact. I would have voted all of your coments if I had votes. But I'm glad now that I met you and am following you. Thanks again.

Hahaha, no worries! I didn't even know you could run out of votes!! Hahaha, and I vote a lot!!

LOL. You know, I read an article fairly recently that says sleep is a really good thing to do when you are trying to lose weight, ha ha. Probably because you aren't eating...

hahaha, I guess! Didn't know, but seems a good explanation!! we should find out!!

I get very sleepy after lunch and I try not to fall asleep.

haha, that's called an after diner dip ;-)

Well, I did it again. Got very sleepy after lunch today. I guess I will staying up late and steemit.
