Drink More Water

"Drink more water," is the first advice usually given to people who want to improve their health. Many health publications are telling us over and over again how important it is to drink enough water. The usual recommendation I have seen is the 8x8 rule.

Eight 8 oz glasses of water.

That is about 2 quarts.

Half a gallon.

About 2 l.


To most people, that seems like a lot of water. They might drink that much coffee - hopefully not. That would be a lot of coffee and coffee does not count. If anything, it is dehydrating the body.

Staying on top of our water consumption is more important now than ever, since one of the recommendations to keep ourselves as healthy as possible in these CoVid 19 times, is to stay hydrated.

Many people don't like to drink water at all.

For those of you who find plain water boring, tasteless - just to plain, give this easy infused water recipe a try. You might surprise yourself and love it!


These little citrus fruits are called Kumquat. They don't get very big and the special thing about them is that you eat the whole fruit,  peel and all. The peel is the sweet part, while the flesh is slightly bitter. One small fruit is packed with flavor!


After washing the Kumquat, slice it thinly.



As you can see, they are quite juicy.

Next, drop them into a glass and fill with water. Let stand for a bit and you have the tastiest water you ever drank.

One good way is to prepare two quart size mason jars in the morning. Keep one in the fridge for the afternoon and one by your side to sip your water from. If they are both empty by evening, you know that you fulfilled your 8x8.

I like to do different infusions and will show you some more in the next few days.

For today, I leave you with one variant.


Add some fresh mint to your second jar and you have a brand new taste sensation.

Sounds really good! I've always wondered what to do with kumquats. They might be a good thing to keep around for a long lasting source of vitamin C.

Yes. They are also great to make marmalade with. But since I am trying to stay away from bread and sugar - not a good option. I can eat one or two just off the tree. If I eat more, my stomach doesn't like it...
