10 top benefits of matcha green tea - A Health herb & Meditation elixir

in #health8 years ago (edited)

Matcha is a finely ground- highest quality powdered green tea and it is considered to be one of the most powerful super foods on the market today. It is a natural, organic green tea which has been the heart of the famous Japanese tea ceremony for over 900 years. Buddhist monks used the matcha tea to meditate longer and more intensively; it was honored as a health elixir for its potential to heighten the concentration.

Matcha was used as a drug for curing various ailments in 9th century in China. However the Japanese Zen Buddhist realized its true benefits and more potential for improving the health at the end of 12th century. He took the knowledge of how to prepare the matcha tea with to Japan and on top of that he planted the matcha tea bushes throughout the country. There are several asian countries who try to `copy´ the matcha tea, nevertheless the best matcha tea comes from Japan.

Here are 10 important benefits of matcha tea:

1. High in Antioxidants
Antooxidants are nutrients for fighting against the negative effects of UV radiation and it gives us a younger looking skin, it prevents anti-aging, more is listed below...

Unbelievable fact: You have to at least drink 10 cups of green tea to get the benefits of 1 cup of matcha tea! When you drink matcha you ingest the entire leaf and receive 100% of nurtients of the leaf.

2. Burns calories
It increases metabolism and help the body burn fat about four times faster than average.

3. Enhances calm & relaxes the body

As I stated above, matcha came to Japan as an aid to meditation practice. During long hours of sitting, monks would drink matcha to remain alert yet calm.

4. Boosts memory and concentration

It enhances mood, relieves stress and improves the memory; for an overall better concentration!

5. Detoxifies effectively and naturally
Chlorophyll presents in matcha tea and it is a powerful detoxifier which helps cleansing the blood, it also naturally removes heavy metals and chemical toxins from the body.

 6. Prevents disease

Matcha tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which is effective in fighting against various bacterial, viral and fungal infections.

7. Fortifies the Immune System

It provides vitamin A,vitamin B-complex, vitamin C, vitamin-E, vitamin-K, chromium, zinc and magnesium.

8. Energy enhancer

There is a unique form of caffeine inside (known as theophylline), which sustains the energy levels without any adverse effects. Matcha tea supports the functionality of adrenal glands.

9. Cancer preventer

Matcha tea contains potent antioxidants called catechins, which scavenge for dangerous free radicals in the body.

10. Amazing Flavor

It´s not like any other normal tea where you add sugar, milk or honey into the cup in order to change the taste. Matcha tea is absolutely tasty by itself! It is herb, but not really bitter, creamy, intense, sometimes even fruity or nutty and really aromatically.

I remember in 2014 my brother came back from Japan and brought some original matcha tea back home. Ever since I drink it regularly! By drinking the tea my health improved and I have enough energy to start off the day! Besides matcha Tea, there is also matcha chocolate, beverages, cakes, breads etc! It is also a must if you haven´t tried it yet!

That was my matcha tea of today- added with water and ginger powder. So tasty!

If you want to live a healthy lifestyle and improving your overall well-being, definitely start drinking matcha tea! :) (you will get the tea in almost every asian supermarket)

Much love

Lisa

what an interesting topic, I think many people only think that "matcha is healthy" but they don't ACTUALLY know what it does for you.

Very informative post, keep it up !

What I like most of matcha compared to coffee is the curve of alertness or sharpness it provides. With coffee its very steep up, steep down. With matcha it's so much more gentle.

Yes, you are so right! Matcha is really gentle and hasn't got any adverse affects

Yes, it has more benefits than most of the people thought. There is a lot of food, drinks etc we have to learn more about, in order to live a healthier life!
Thank you for your comment!

These are absolutely true statements!... Theanine power as well... I buy mine from Eden foods as they distribute high quality Japanese products for a reasonable price...just like very old American wild ginseng root, Matcha that is of a superior grade can cost more than most recreational drugs🍵🍵🍵🍵🍵🍵🍵🍵definitely not your everyday cup of tea😳

So true! It is really expensive though :( i drink it approximately 2-3 times a week. I'm from Germany and the price for 10 satchet is 6€. The healthier the more expensive (most of the time)

Great tip! Definitely trying it, thanks:)

Yes, you definitely have to! :D

Its crazy how healthy matcha tea can be and the most people know nothing about it. Thank you for sharing this great topic!

Nice Post! Upvoted!

I'm a big fan of matcha. Do you have any online shops you recommend?

Thank you :) I sometimes order it at japancentre.com! I like your latest post!

Nice I will have to try this out thanks for sharing!

Yes do it! Thanks for commenting!

I haven't tried matcha yet, but I do drink normal green tea, but I have to add a bit of honey, as its bitter on its own. ^_^

I drink the `normal´ green tea almost everyday, with a lot of sugar inside! If you want to get more benefits within a shorter time, definitely try Matcha tea (it is sweet by its own)! I´m sure you will love it

Thanks, yes I certainly will try some. ^_^
