NON GMO or GMO - English version and a Plus

in #health7 years ago (edited)

For when my eldest daughter started ablating, I talk about June 2012, I started my research on what food I was going to present to my girl, and like all new moms, we're always going to want the best for our little baby's, it was in that When I learned what the Greenpeace List or the Red and Green List was.

Greenpeace is an NGO that is in charge of the protection of the environment

Which are Genetically Modified Foods

Transgenic foods are those that have been produced from a genetically engineered organism and have incorporated genes from another organism to produce the desired characteristics. At present they have more presence of foods from transgenic plants such as corn and soy.

At first everything was very overwhelming for me because reading the list, there were many products that I had spent my whole life consuming, I felt panic and a lot of stress, since I searched and searched the internet as it could affect your health and some pages did not give an explanation concrete.

Arguments of Agricultural Producers

The use of transgenic species in agriculture not only increases average productivity by minimizing insect and weed pests, but also makes more rational use of agrochemicals, reducing the associated economic, health and environmental costs. Transgenic crops are also more resistant to adverse climates and grow on dry and saline soils, which could represent a solution to the crop reduction problem. "I do not know what mechanisms are used to modify the DNA of a food and I am very worried because I have read that sometimes they use animals that have died because of unsuspected circumstances. Insert a scary face and a big OH my god.

Explanation of OMS

The role of transgenic foods in the diffusion of antibiotic resistance has been postulated, since the insertion of foreign DNA into transgenic varieties can be done (and in most cases done) by the insertion of antibiotic resistance markers .

"If for me, that I do not know much about science, nor DNA and in the 9th year I reproached Biology it sounded a lot of verbiage"

Talking to a Pediatrician

The Dr talked to me about the incidence of allergies and resistance to antibiotics in people who consume genetically modified foods, even talking about possible cases of intoxication. She as a scientist would prefer that parents try as much as possible not to consume or give their babies these products.

My Conclusion

Since this subject is very delicate since it directly affects companies working with Genetic Engineering I must be subtle and touch the subject with silk hands. There is a lot of information without reliable source, a lot of research that has not yielded a 100% ascertained result of how health affects the consumption of these foods, and my post is nothing more than advice from a curious mom, that is why I leave it to Libre The will of each person.

As a mother of three try as much as possible to purchase non GMO products as well as consumption of USDA approved organic foods. In the United States the producing companies are obliged to label or mention in the packaging of their products, if they are organic and in turn if they are genetically modified.

It's all about checking labels and trying to grow as much produce as you can from non gmo seeds🌱 This is the biggest reason that brought me to homesteading ⭐️

Omg my friend @artedellavita would be a dream for me to produce my own food at home since I come from a family of farmers but right now I'm living in a place that doesn't even allow me to try 😓

Would they allow container gardening? Even an herb or two indoors on your windowsill or a Pygmy indoor lemon tree would be a blessing! Ooh I'm so crossing my fingers for you!

Thx 4 u wishes ;) @artedellavita Hahahaha I try, buying in Publix a plant of basil and another of peppermint but as the gardens in florida are the majority of sand to the three days already were drying.

Yes just keep them in containers with good soil and watered I think they might just survive!

Me fascina Florida! Yo tengo familia en Miami 🐠
