Once you are adept at the first breathing step (Perineal Breathing), we can begin to gain far greater health benefits. As just one more example; breathing straight down to our base will exercise the entire diaphragm as it also massages all of the organs and bowels more fully. The lower abdominal pattern has less benefit as it invigorates more of the frontal body with less stimulation to the rear torso, organs and bowels.

As babies our breath and life came through our bellies and maybe why so many people teach breath control in that area. However we did not need to ground electrically as we were already grounded through our mother.

Once out of the womb however, we need to connect and ground to the earth as we begin to breathe on our own.

And as the human body is a conduit with positive and negative polarities, we should explore this briefly to fully appreciate this next step.

Human electricity

Negative energy is the bodies natural state due tithe balance of potassium and sodium in your cells. When resting we have greater potassium (negative ions), which resides inside the cells.

Outside the cells is a a layer of positively charged sodium. The difference is so slight there is little change or electrical capacity. However when the cell opens and the positive and negative are attracted we develop a greater electrical charge.

These electrical charges are responsible for every function from sensory to motor functions like feeling pain or your heart beat, or even thought itself. So without electrical flow in the body we would cease to exist.

The Earth contains massive negative charge that stimulate an exchange which in turn generates and increases the electrical capacity (also free radical destroying electrons).

Our contact with these negative charges improve the balance and health of the body. Especially with the increase in positive charged ions in modern society as conducted through metals and ground electrically, EMFs (to name just a few), that are so prevalent today.

As you can see a particular seated position has been prevalent throughout history and diverse cultures. It is not simply that they had no chairs, it stemmed from deeper human knowledge and purpose.

With and as we continue our Perineal Breathing, our body creates electricity. The body acts much like the earth with not only thing step (an electromagnetic field around us, but also the Positive (North) pole and Negative (South) pole. These positive and negative charges must be grounded.

The relaxation of the perineal muscles acts to better connect the perineum to the negative Earth. So as we inhale and relax to connect the perineum to the earth, we simultaneously allow (channel), the positive energy of the Sun and other influences, to flow down our frontal center-line. This positive charge is attracted to the negative ground to balance the body. Now I know Oriental healing dogma states that the front center-line is negative, (Yin) and this seems to contradict. However the negative aspect or state does attract the positive charge to ground it, so the negative frontal body is capable of attracting and grounding the positive ions to the Earth.

As we exhale and pull upward on the perineum, the negative charge of the Earth, rises up the spine... thus creating the main circuit (Microcosmic Orbit of Oriental Tradition). This negative energy is attracted and channeled through this positive (Yang if you will), conduit.

This creates a full cycle of energy charge and discharge in a rotational path that will later expand throughout the body (to be explained in subsequent articles).

This circular energetic action is natural in flow. By using the lower abdominal method the simple I impeded circular path becomes more labored and conscious. The concentration of energy coagulates, (some say stored) in that region with less flow and benefit to the body.
