Waste To health- Using Banana Peel to Whiten your teeth
Many of us enjoy the rich flavor & sweetness of banana's used in preparing different recipes and smoothies like with Milk, Yogurt, Ice cream etc, but what most do not know is that the skin of a banana we usually discard into the waste bin is packed with many nutritional and health benefits both for our inner self and skin.
In today's Episode of Waste to health, I am gonna briefly look into the beauty benefit of banana peel as regards to our teeth which is very important since a bright and shining teeth gives us better confidence and ensures we smile elegantly!. But before we go forward, let us look at the mineral contents of Banana peels which makes it so special.
Banana peel mainly is rich in some vital minerals beneficial to the human body and below are some of them;
***Potassium - 78.10mg/g
Manganese - 76.20mg/g
Sodium - 24.30 mg/g
Calcium- 19.20 mg/g
Iron- 0.61 mg/g
Thanks to its high contents of potassium, it is very good in ensuring normal blood pressure and flow.
**Banana Peel Use as Teeth Whitener –
**Method of Use
Use a ripe banana, best those with dark spots. Wash the banana skin very well with clean water.
Cut off a piece of the peel in small bits to fit the size of your teeth and gently rub the inner part over your teeth for a few minutes say two to three minutes and leave for next 20 minutes, then rinse off with clean water and brush your teeth. I prefer using herbal toothpaste.
Repeat 1-2 x daily for whiter looking teeth. the high amounts of potassium and manganese helps to brighten the teeth leaving your mouth & teeth fresh and healthy!

Banana peel can also be used as a good source of fertilizer. This can be achieved by blending the peels with egg shells and other organic waste. So stop throwing away these very useful waste and put them to good use. Egg shells have a lot of use.
Yes, you are very correct egg shells can be utilised in so many ways. U can grind and use it as Vim for washing utensils, u can use it to fortify the calcium contents of animal feed, u can even blend it for orthopeadic patients with bone problems for a quicker recovery, etc

They are currently using activated carbon and then the banana skin and if, indeed, the teeth remain white
