Purslane # 5 Scientific name Portulacaceae, is edible from root to flower and is a beautiful addition to any salad. This plant has many medicinal, as well as nutritional attributes. A half cup of Purslane contains 200 milligrams of omega 3 fatty acids which is more than even fish! So vegans rejoice, this is a great plant to add to any diet! This tasty succulent is considered by many to be one of the healthiest foods on earth containing high levels of vitamins A, E, and C. Like the hibiscus, purslane is a great edible to mix with water in your blender to turn up your nutrition level and alkalinize your body.
