Big Pharma : Paying For 30,000 Doctor Events Per Year In Australia!

in #health7 years ago (edited)

According to Bond University research fellow Ray Moynihan "there are something like 30,000 events a year in Australia alone where the drug companies are paying for the meals and alcohol of Australian doctors"!

  • This equates to 82 events per day across Australia!

  • The 2011 Australian Census of Population showed that there were 70,200 medical practitioners working in Australia. This equates to 2.34 events per Australian doctor per year!

  • To me this is a clear conflict of interest... I can think no other word for this except: CORRUPTION!

What do you think? - All comments will be gratefully appreciated!

Big Questions?

There are several key questions that need to be raised here:

  1. Why are drug (pharmaceutical) companies paying for Australian doctor's to enjoy themselves without disclosing their incentives or costs?
  2. Why does this "gratuity" need to be undisclosed?
  3. What is the return on investment for the pharmaceutical companies to spend all this money on doctorst?

I want to add a second post on this topic mañana!

I will add further details concerning how this is process is being implemented. There are new laws being proposed in Australia to address this blatant conflict of interest - but they leave glaring loopholes to circumvent these new measures.

I will also ask some searching questions on the moral dilemma posed by this saddening scenario!

Happens here in my country. They want doctors to prescribe their drugs. It then makes the medicines expensive as well.

It's an example of "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch your back." This is not surprising at all.

Global depopulation campaign
Today if you want to stay alive do not go to doctor it's like a modern Holocaust

Yep that's the unfortunate truth about the way the system works. Your doctor might not recommend the best possible drug option to you, but you can bet the one he/she does offer bought them a couple of nice lunches at some point!

Thank you for the post. I am ashamed to say that in one point in my life I was caught up in the game that the pharmaceutical companies play on the medical profession. I thank God today that I had the courage to walk away. It is much easier to look in the mirror now.

Drug based medicine does more harm than good.

They need to "bribe" doctors in order to sell the poison.

If pharma drugs truly healed and were good for humanity, they would not need to do this.

Think about it :o)

Peace,

Michael

Happening around the world. Because it happens here in the United States too.

hey man, great post. Reminded me of a Last Week Tonight show about the opioids problem in the USA. See you soon (I'll try to find red/white...)

Hi @Jockey a very interesting post. I am well aware about the big pharma behaviors with doctors all around the globe. They invite them at a beautiful 5 star hotel on an island or on the mountain during the winter holidays. And there for 3 to 4 days they have party, diner, meeting and a lot more free time. During this special "meeting" they give some information about they new drugs mostly the more expensive one and ask doctors in return for this beautiful 4 days in the bahamas to prescribe those medicine as much as they can for some return on investment and for some other special holidays in a few month. The worst in this story is that doctors prescribe medicine not for effectivness but for their own profit and the one of big pharma. Love and happiness
