Salutations.
I am JaiChai.
And if I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you before, I'm delighted to make your acquaintance now.
I invite you to interact with everyone, learn, and have as much fun as possible!
For my returning online friends, "It's always great to see you again!"
I apologize for not posting in the last 5 days.
The holiday season in the Philippines is simply crazy. Young children gather and sing outside your gate at all hours of the day and night, hoping to receive a few pesos or treats.
(And my relatives? Let's just say that "Wealth is relative; meaning, the more wealthy you are the more relatives come out of the woodwork!")
But the biggest cool thing I've been doing lately (thanks to my girlfriend and best friend who found and gathered a bunch of natural Reish in the woods for me a week ago) is experimenting with Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum and Ganoderma Applanatum) tea for the last few days.
If you don't know about the health benefits of the Reishi mushroom, here's just a few...
My Results?
Just after two days of mixing Reishi tea in my coffee and protein shakes I noticed the following:
- Able to sleep 6-8 hours straight, a BIG DEAL for me since I've been a chronic insomniac since childhood.
- More endurance during workouts and sex.
- A profound "mellower" attitude.
- Normalized eating patterns with better nutrition.
- Increased concentration when reading or doing laboratory work with mycelium (agar dishes and spawn to grain and liquid culture to agar inoculation sessions).
- Motivation to do artwork again.
- and much more...
How to make Ganoderma Tea
Easiest method (for me) is to slice the leathery-to-hardwood texture of the mushroom into slices with a serrated blade and boil for 2-3 hours, strain and drink warm or refridgerate for later consumption.
I used 40 grams of dried Reishi to make a liter and a half of Ganoderma tea.
Note: Boiling only releases the polysaccharides.
In order to get the other benefits of Ganoderma, you must immerse in alcohol (vodka, Rhum, etc.) for at least two weeks. Then you drain the tincture, boil the mushrooms, and add equal amounts of the boiled water to the alcohol.
This "double extraction" provides both the water soluble and alcohol soluble chemicals (beta glucans and triterpenes) for your health.
I am currently soaking a bunch of Ganoderma in alcohol as we speak for my future tincture mix.
FUN(gi) On!

I had heard of the health benefits of reishi before, but I've never come across it here in Belgium. Maybe I should try to find some Asian stores..
I've never heard of this. I will have to see if we can get it here in the states.

RE: Your Comment
If you are near any hardwood trees or forests, you probably can find them just wandering around - especially after a good rain.
Also, there are tons of commercial Reishi products on the market now.
Just vet the supplier very well because over 70% of "commercial" Reishi is fake; a sad byproduct of its value, health benefits and growing popularity.
I recommend only buying "double or dual extraction" products.
Why?
Simple boiling of sliced Reisihi (for at least two hours) will release the over 100 known polysacharides - with more being discovered every year.
But the dual extraction; that is, soaking the Reishi in vodka for at least two weeks, straining, boiling and having a 1:1 ratioin of tincture (Reishi alcohol) and tea (boiled Reishi) will give you both the polysaccharides and the over 140 triterpenes held within too!
FUN(gi) on!
