Word Vomit: Another day, another d...ay

This morning I slept in later than I have in years. I partially attribute it to sleep deprivation due to my new-found addiction to learning about Steemit/STEEM and other cryptocurrencies, but I guess insomnia is also a good scapegoat. The truth is I really have no idea how I managed to sleep in, which is normally a daunting task for me.

My morning began with scrambling to hide the mess I had created last night. I made a curry dish last night, and used up every dish in our kitchen in the process. I thought I really fucked it up, but apparently my girlfriend thought it was delicious.

After I "cleaned" (hid) my slop, my girlfriend and I set out to "get coffee", yet the trip ended up consuming 6 hours of our time, including a trip to the big bad DMV.

At some point we decided we were going to make sushi for dinner; neither of us have ever given it a really solid attempt before. It will probably be a disaster, if anyone wants to see it I will send them a picture later. Anyways, there is a limited number of places around here to get nori and over necessary sushi supplies. We ended up at a Thai store, and while I was scanning the aisles I impulse-bought a Thai energy drink called "Panther". My review - it was okay, kinda just tasted like flat Red Bull(it is not carbonated). Probably better than I'm giving it credit for, but I just liked the can.

After all our errands were said and done we returned home and put away some food. Afterwards, I went to our bedroom and changed into some athletic clothes, and told my girlfriend "I'm going for a run." Her response was more or less what I had expected; she looked at me with one raised eyebrow, kinda smile-chuckled her "okay" and looked back at what she was doing. When she heard the door open she said "where are you going, actually?"

To explain, I don't go on runs. I am fairly active, and certainly not out-of-shape, but I don't go out of my way solely for exercise. It just so happens a lot of things I like to do involve physical activity. So her confusion was just. But here's why, and it's partially inspired by the Steemit community.

I first joined Steemit right after New Years. At the time, obviously, there were a lot of posts about resolutions and all that jazz. After I read quite a few posts, I came to realize that I was just bored. Bored with my daily routine, I suppose. I get bored quite a bit really, and always find some weird way to satisfy it. I confuse a lot of people.

So I decided, strictly adhering to the "why not" philosophy, that I was going to train for and run a marathon. Like I said before, I don't run, so it's going to be quite the commitment. I've told myself I'd do things like this before, and usually got bored with them, these solutions to boredom.

But not this time! I decided I was going to give myself some real incentive and log my training progress on here after making a post saying that, if I don't run a marathon by the end of the year, I will give away 100% of the STEEM I have accrued by that point. I have gained a lot of faith in STEEM over the past few weeks here and am in for the long-term, so it is a HUGE incentive for me to actually fulfill my goal.

But I'll make that post another time. Right now I have to go tend to cleaning up our Christmas tree, which I burned last night after my curry disaster. Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Hello Herbert,

You're a really good writter! Well done and good post.

I would only advise you to use headers.

"This morning I slept in later than I have in years. I partially attribute it to sleep deprivation due to my new-found addiction to learning about Steemit/STEEM and other cryptocurrencies"

I know what this is, was a victim of this exact thing myself... it's sooo addicting.

Glad to read from you mate.
Cheers!

Hey Max!

I really appreciate you stopping by. And also, your encouragement.

It is incredibly addicting. I've been less active in the past few days on the site than I have since I joined but it was mostly because I needed to catch up on sleep and the things I forgot to do during my Steemit focus (haha).

Anyways, I appreciate the advice about headers. I will try to do so in the future. I enjoy writing, and have certainly never done so on a professional level, but I have always written in my spare time as an outlet. Joining Steemit was my first opportunity to do so on a public platform. So, in conclusion the few bits of advice I've gotten here are really the only ones I've ever gotten. I'm very new to blogging, or whatever term you want to give it.

Again, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your feedback.

Cheers!

Yeah, headers help because they help make the text look easier to read... with no headers and the text all in the same size and not divided, the wall of text intimidates the average internet user.

Try to notice these things when you're doing your commenting rounds... which posts do you feel more like reading, how they are formatted etc...

You're doing fine ;)
Cheers

Hahaha, nice advice. I'll be taking it for myself. <3

Post Very Good!

Kudos on the marathon. I like this style post... Word vomit. It's more of a brain vomit because you're letting out what is in your head. Tomato tomato.

thanks! yeah I wasn't sure what to call it and that was I guess the first thing I thought of. Brain vomit makes more sense though, in my opinion

Also, you didn't power up on this post?

I'm not entirely sure I know what you mean

If you're referring to Steem Power I simply just don't have enough yet. We're currently in a financial slump, so I also have nothing to invest in Steem (at the moment). I'm hoping to someday have some good power though!

I'm referring to the post you resteemed, "Why Powering Up Is The Secret To Your Steemit Success: It Is Imperative!!!”
When you create a new post there's a box at the bottom that says Reward: Default 50%/50%. You can change that to Power Up 100%. It means you'll earn all Steemit Power rather than Steemit Power and SBD.

As for the article, I thought the term "powering up" was about the process of converting your sbd/steem into steem power. I wasn't aware the term also refers to the reward thing!

On that note though, I didn't understand that, so thank you. Currently I have just been converting all rewarded sdb into steemit power. I guess my only question on that note is this; is there a difference in return?

I have no idea which way is better. I've done it both ways. I keep saying I'm going to research it. But I haven't.

There is, there are articles to explain it more deeply, but since the SBD is worth more than the 1 USD amount it was originally supposed to be, so right now getting 50/50 and then converting to SP on the internal market will fetch you a larger reward to invest back to the platform.

That's what I'm starting to figure out, especially with the exchange down to .7 now.

Wonderful!!!! I hope you get to run your marathon! My asthma lungs say no but I'm still out here trying ahhaha. Good luck to you and all your fitness goals :D

Awesome idea to give yourself a monetary motivation, I have been seeing similar platforms via fiat for betting on weight loss. I loved hiking mountains but moved back to a city and started taking up running to learn the city faster. Keep it up, the routine makes it so much easier on a daily basis!

I found you when I cruised my followers, thanks for signing up for more of my content. I am super excited to see your horror reviews, I considered something similar but don't spend my time watching movies as much as I used to. But I would love to hear your thoughts on Halloween 3! See you around!

Ah, that's definitely a good way to learn the city! It's been a little bit of a rough start here, due to the weather, but it's already getting a little easier.

I am glad you decided to keep me around :) I will be doing some reviews soon, I was unsure of a good manner to do them in. Then I looked at my wall full of random VHS tapes and thought ah, there we go. So hopefully soon I'll pop one in and post something here on it.

I will definitely do one for Halloween 3, per your request! I haven't seen it in years, so I'd be excited to pay it a visit.

Oh, I wasn't taking people out of my following pool, I was checking out the awesome people like yourself that had already shown an interest in what I had to say. But hell yeah, I'm keeping you around! Are you keeping within your VHS collection or will you expand your reviews?

I'll probably expand them, I just figured it was a good place to start. Especially because my collection has mainly come from random thrift stores, garage sales, etc., so there's some very odd films in there a lot of people may not of heard of.

Glad we connected! Looking forward to it. Cheers!

I ran a long long time ago. I did several 5 and 10k runs. I think I only did one marathon run. I did do several half marathons though. Not an easy task running a marathon. All I can say is never pass up on the water people hand you. My legs at the end of that run were totally jellyfied.

Yeah, I know it won't be easy. As I said, I've never been a big runner, but I'm fairly athletic, so I think I'll be able to do it. I know it's going to be quite a path :)

Awesome posts. I start my resteeming run tomorrow, but a few ideas on tags. You have use of five of them on Steemit and sometimes it's about targeting the most accurate tag where your post will recieve the most views. For instance: health writing life blog animalphotography would have put this post out to a larger audience and as it is a great post I have no doubt it would have received more vote.
Now a thought occurs to me in regards to something you would be great at given your style of writing and humor. Have you ever visited the #walkwithme tag? If you get a chance stop by and have a look at some of the peoples posts you can find there. I believe you would easily gain some followers and earn some awesome votes by throwing a few posts up in that category. Beautiful lab btw. I lost my lab back in July at the age of ten. They truly are remarkable little souls. Well, I hope the feed back helped and reach out if you need a hand at any point.

Hey mudcat,
I really appreciate you stopping by. Another user pointed out tags to me as well, and it's something I've also become aware of myself. I think part of it is learning what tags are popular specifically to the Steemit community, something I have yet to invest much time into.

I have not heard of that tag, but I will definitely check it out! From what you say, it sounds pretty interesting/promising. I'll look into it now.

Sorry to hear about your pup. He's a big part of my life. Thanks again, a lot for taking your time to help me out. Look forward to seeing you around!
