The CDC has admitted that between 1955–1963 over 98 million Americans received one or more doses of a polio shot which was contaminated with a cancer-causing virus called Simian vacuolating virus 40 (SV40). The CDC quickly took down the page, along with Google, but the site was luckily cached and saved to symbolize this grand admission.

CDC admits 98 million Americans were given cancer virus via the polio shot

http://www.vaccines.news/2015-09-23-cdc-admits-98-million-americans-were-given-cancer-virus-via-the-polio-shot.html

To further confirm this unbelievable admission, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Loyola University in Chicago Dr. Michele Carbone has been able to independently verify the presence of the SV40 virus in tissue and bone samples from patients who died during that era. He found that 33% of the samples with osteosarcoma bone cancers, 40% of other bone cancers, and 60% of the mesothelioma’s lung cancers all contained this obscure virus. This leaves the postulation that upwards of 10–30 million actually contracted and were adversely affected by this virus, to be deadly accurate.

FAKE NEWS? REAL NEWS?

0736f339b691bfd638d6c11bbb30cd66.jpg

A game designed to help people understand how fake news and conspiracy theories spread online has been created at the University of Cambridge. - It actually looks kind of cool and for many - this might just be the 'recreational' vice they would enjoy!
The creators say they want the game to be a "vaccine" against fake news. "What we're trying to do is demystify and illuminate what these techniques are, how to spot them, how to recognise them, and not be influenced by them."
The BBC recently launched its own scheme to help young people filter out fake news from the real thing.

Much of the "FAKE" news is typically built upon HALF TRUTHS and the better Spin Doctor the word smith is - the more believable the story - if it's fantastical or sensational - the more likely it will spread through the masses turning unsubstantiated claims into "truths" through the chains of gossip. "BE CAREFUL THE NEWS YOU SPREAD" ~ Wise people often say

Good fake headlines are easy to fall for

The real quality writers and tale tellers are VERY GOOD STORY TELLERS for one of two reasons (If not both!)...

  1. They believe they are telling the truth and are often passionate about the subject they are writing on,
  2. They have very creative imaginations and get a thrill from stirring the poop pot! (I'm guessing their world stinks :grinning:)
  3. WE EVEN BELIEVE astonishing headlines - Recent and historical work in psychology shows mere exposure to fake news makes it spread. To understand why — and the extent to which false stories seep into our brains — we need to understand the psychology of the illusory truth effect. Each time a reader encounters fake news story, or false information on social media platform especially, but, really anywhere, it makes a subtle impression in the brain/subconscious. Each time we see or hear the "headline", the story grows more familiar. And that familiarity casts the illusion of truth.

MORE INFO: - The illusory truth effect has been studied for decades — the first citations date back to the 1970s. - Really cool Paper if you have the patience to read it!

FAKE NEWS IS DIFFERENT THAN CONSPIRACY THEORY...

Conspiracy theories often produce hypotheses that contradict the prevailing understanding of history or (presumably)simple facts. The term is often a derogatory one. Many of them are built upon HALF TRUTHS or so to speak - BUT because, Conspiracies can be realWatergate and Iran-Contra are the first ones to come to mind – but there are MANY MANY MANY lies told to us. Government, Corporations, Your employer - your employee, your mother brother sister friend spouse child and dog! And all conspiratorial efforts have one thing in common - MANIPULATION.

The master manipulator needs their audience to believe the lie they tell so they can achieve a goal - basically to suck you into their thinking - we all want support  even conspirators!!! Notably, there is an exponential amount of conspiracy theories that circulate social circles and in our minds. Plenty of long-since-debunked theories continue to hang around.

WHY?

a brief explanation from Christopher French, a psychology professor at the University of London, in Scientific American. French cites three main factors that contribute to conspiracy theories.

One is “confirmation bias.” “We all have a natural inclination to give more weight to evidence that supports what we already believe and ignore evidence that contradicts our beliefs,” French writes. So when early news reports contain errors or contradictions, “those wishing to find evidence of a cover-up will focus on such inconsistencies to bolster their claims.”

A second driver of conspiracy theories is “proportionality bias” – “our innate tendency to assume that big events have big causes.” French points out that proportionality bias is the reason so many people refused to believe that JFK’s death was caused by a lone, deranged gunman. How, after all, could one man so disrupt the path of an entire nation?

The third piece is “projection.” French writes: “People who endorse conspiracy theories may be more likely to engage in conspiratorial behaviors themselves, such as spreading rumors or tending to be suspicious of others’ motives. If you would engage in such behavior, it may seem natural that other people would as well.”

Pretty much every consciously thinking human (youth & adult alike) has a bit of conspiracy theorist in them. The challenge lies in people's ability to see signs of confirmation bias, proportionality bias and projection in themselves.
FOR EXAMPLE....

Do you despise Politician X and take every slur against him or her at face value? Are you firmly in Politician X’s corner and of the opinion that every negative story about him or her qualifies as “fake news”? Is “winning” an argument more important than gaining new insight or understanding, even if that means resorting to conjecture presented as fact and vice versa?

IN OTHER WORDS, rather than looking for information that supports your belief, try to prove yourself wrong.

It’s a fairly simple exercise, but it’s one that the average human being appears less and less willing to undertake. It seems that in today's rat-race, people are much more likely to sift through information and extract only the pieces that confirm their theory, all the while rejecting – whether consciously or subconsciously – any information that undermines their core argument.

Bottom line:

You are free to believe whatever it is you choose to believe, but how willing are you to find out when and where you’re wrong? INFORMATION IS POWER In this age it is more important than ever to SHARE PEER TO PEER INFORMATION - AND - RECOGNIZE THE BIAS WITH WHICH IT IS SHARED
