Nicotine is a short term drug. If it were not, then someone addicted to smoking can never get 6 to 8 hours of sleep without waking up in between to get his fix. The addiction to smoking is in the habit which a quitter finds hard to do away with. Habit such as lighting a cigarette, dragging from the stick, exhaling, blowing smoke rings at times, tapping the ash in the ashtray, waving hand with the cigarette in between the fingers. Take it from someone who gave up smoking 30 years running. Here's a link to a post 3 months ago on how I stopped here. This can help you get started with your Day 1 in quitting the habit.
