The Truth is: Health is Wealth -A balanced diet is necessary!

Health is wealth. This is a very famous proverb of all times. If you have a proper health, all other things in life becomes smooth and energetic. In order to have a proper diet, it's very important to understand the meaning if a healthy diet. A healthy diet provides the body with essential nutrition: fluid, adequate essential amino acids from protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and adequate calories.
A healthy diet supports energy needs and provides for human nutrition without exposure to toxicity or excessive weight gain from consuming excessive amounts. Where lack of calories is not an issue, a properly balanced diet in addition to proper exercise is also thought to be important for lowering health risks, such as obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and cancer.

Maintaining a proper and healthy diet has various benefits. These may be summed up as follows:-
• Maintaining proper weight-Balanced diet can help in preventing the body from taking in saturated fats that accumulate to increase the weight of your body. Taking fatty intakes like skin of chicken, fat of red meat, snack foods etc. can result in weight gain.

• Meet nutritional needs-A balanced diet will compensate for the vitamins, minerals, calcium, fibre and other nutrients required by the body. Hence the nutritional need for maintaining a healthy body is met.

• Prevent diseases-While avoiding fats can prevent cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart diseases and strokes, increasing fibre intake can decrease the risk of colorectal cancer, benefits for constipation, diverticulitis and irritable bowel syndrome, lower cholesterol, reduced risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

• Healthy lifestyle-Vitamins and minerals help to boost immunity and healthy development and thus brings in a healthy life. Eating different types of healthy food also keeps the mind fresh and happy thus making a happy lifestyle for you.

Diet can be of various types. Let us have a look at the following:-

• -Dukan diet-The Dukan Diet is a diet plan originating in France. It is a protein-based diet designed by French doctor Pierre Dukan. This helps in rapid weight loss while keeping your body nutrition requirement intact.

• -Paleo diet-Palaeolithic diet includes vegetables, fruits, nuts, roots, meat, and organ meats, basically the type of food taken by people of the old Palaeolithic age. This diet may lead to improvements in terms of body composition and metabolic effects and keeps body weight proper.

• -Alkaline diet-This describes a group of loosely related diets based on the belief that certain foods can affect the acidity and pH of bodily fluids, including the urine or blood, and can therefore be used to treat or prevent diseases. Due to the lack of proper evidence supporting any benefits of this diet, it is generally not recommended by dietitians and other health professionals.

• -New Atkins diet-This is a low-carbohydrate diet promoted by Robert Atkins mainly for accelerating weight reduction. This includes proper regulation of carbohydrate and fat.

• -Cambridge diet-The Cambridge Diet is a weight loss plan in which 415 to 1500 kcal are consumed per day, principally from commercial products sold as part of the diet regime. These products are manufactured in the UK and include shakes, meal replacement bars, soups and smoothies.

• -South Beach diet- Developed by Arthur Agatston, it involves eating high-fibre, low-glycemic carbohydrates, unsaturated fats, and lean protein. This aids weight loss though there is no medical and scientific evidence to support the effects of this diet.

• -Slimming World diet-This is a specifically designed healthy eating habit that helps in slimming the body without undergoing hard dieting habits. This keeps the tastes of food taken intact.

• -Slim-Fast diet-This indicates replacement of meals by health shakes and bars that contains all the necessary items and nutrients of a complete meal. This helps in fast weight loss but changes natural eating habits.
• -Lighter Life diet-This involves counselling and guidance with various medical tests to provide for and ensure a well maintained balanced and healthy diet for each individual. This understands the different needs if different people and never generalizes.

• Weight Watchers diet-Weight Watchers offers two diet plans: The Points Plan: In the points plan, foods are assigned a certain number of points based on the food's calorie, total fat, and dietary fibre content. Participants are allowed to eat any foods they choose and are allotted a certain number of points each day.

• -Rosemary Conley diet-This is a diet which emphasises not only on food habits but also on proper and well maintained exercise. This is if the idea that diets work only with exercise and these together helps you to bring your proper maintained body weight.
It is clear that a proper diet is very essential for not only maintaining a proper body weight but also keeping a good health. But of course, exercise is key!
