Humanized Pregnancy # 2 (More Recommendations)

Hello STEEMIT community! Today I will talk about humanized childbirth in Venezuela, a long time ago I talked about this but specifically about obstetric violence.

The process of giving birth should be one of the most pleasant and beautiful moments, since we are welcoming the life and the arrival of a new baby to the world. But on the contrary and unfortunately many times it is a traumatic process and where we become victims of different types of violence. The whole process of gestation and birth should be respected since life is understood as a human right long before the moment in which we are born.

Humanized pregnancy should be understood as respect for the family, that is, the mother, the father and her baby during pregnancy, childbirth and birth, also respecting the time the mother takes, the decisions taken at the time of delivery and the way she feels more comfortable at the time of the baby's birth, while neither of the two lives is at risk.

This whole issue is about eliminating violence against women and their children, and promoting human rights to life.

One of the things that is not respected after birth, is the so-called "Sacred Hour" because this is the immediate skin-to-skin physical contact between mother and newborn, which brings many benefits for the baby that has just gone through a time of great stress and for the mother, in this period of time that should be given to both creates an affective bond, because at this time the new breast demonstrates so much happiness and love, and gives the security and self-esteem that will last the rest of his life, in addition to many benefits that will be reflected over time.

In addition to this many doctors cut the umbilical cord even when it beats, and that should not be done because it is the first blood transfusion of the baby and most of the blood of the fetus is in the placenta, but if you wait for the umbilical cord stop beating, it is more likely that the baby joined the world faster.

Another thing that we must promote is breastfeeding because it is scientifically recognized as the ideal nutritional and exclusive method during the first 6 months of life and up to two years. It has also been proven that the period from birth to two years of age is the stage in which failures of growth, deficiencies of certain nutrients and common childhood diseases occur. So the practice of breastfeeding bridles the baby or child sensory and cognitive development, also protects them from infectious and chronic diseases. Exclusive breastfeeding reduces infant mortality due to childhood illnesses such as pneumonia and diarrhea. In addition, in the mother helps to space pregnancies, the risk of ovarian and breast cancer decreases.

In humanized childbirth it is also talked about the rescue of the figure of Doulas, surely you will wonder what this is about?

The role of a Doula is to provide emotional accompaniment but also give support and physical help. Unlike midwives, Doulas have no clinical responsibilities during delivery. The Doulas usually focus on helping the mother-to-be prepare mentally for the moment of giving birth, expressing her fears and concerns. The Doulas help to choose how each woman wants to live her pregnancy and delivery, also help the family, ie parents and grandparents feel part of the process of the arrival of the baby helping them with their doubts.

This information is very important because if you are a man, as a father you can assert the rights of your wife and baby, even if you are the mother or any relative of the woman in labor.

We must focus on transmitting this information so that birth and humanized birth are guaranteed everywhere!

@chicabibliofila, this is a great article. My wife would love it. She had to c-sections and then 3 successful v-bacs. We would have had 5 natural births if the doctors would have given my wife more time.

As we had more experienced we learned what was best for my wife.
