This has long been pointed out by runners but the technology to actually measure the chemical changes in your brain and body had not been available until recent years. But what was long suspected has turned out to actually be scientifically true! When you run, your brain releases chemicals known as endorphins, which are the brain's naturally occurring opiates. These endorphins can give you the feeling of a euphoric high which makes your run much more enjoyable! So beyond the obvious reasons to run, such as being lean and fit, now it can literally be your natural and healthy drug! So go outside and run!
