Barbecue Scallops with Chili & Lime.
This has to be one of my favourite simple seafood treats. Fresh scallops cooked on the bbq in front of you and served on the shell.
EASY TO PREPARE.
This is a simple but delicious dish to prepare. First, remove the scallop from the shell and clean in thoroughly of any grit or grime. Also give the shell a good scrub clean with salty water. Next place the shell onto the hot bbq plate and spoon in some garlic butter. Put the fresh scallops back in and cook them, turning then as necessary.
VOILA !
When suitably cooked remove them from the bbq and sprinkle some fried garlic & onion crispy slivers over the top. Serve it with a spicy lime and chili sauce (nahm jim talay) and wash it down with a cold drink.. Perfection.
Ah man!! That dish rocks....I am drooling despite having just eaten. Have you got the recipe for the spicy lime and chilli sauce?
Everyone make the sauce a little bit different, but its a common sauce served with seafood in Thailand. Basically it consists of fresh lime juice, crushed garlic, fish sauce, and some finely sliced chili, some salt and sugar. Mix different amounts of each until you get the flavour you like. it goes great with any type of seafood.
Thanks, I have cut and pasted your reply... and when I try it I will give you feedback or perhaps share my meal on my blog 'In The Kitchen'.

Love it. My Mom loves scallops, I will give this a go for her. Love how they are grilled on the shells. Happy New Year to you my friend!
Please cook them for your mom :) I'd love to see the pics. A Very Happy New Year to you also!
We do not get scallops here in Cape Town...certainly not fresh and certainly not in the shells {sulk}
