When a PANDA isn't a PANDA

in #health7 years ago

I’ve been treating an 11 year old boy these past few months who was exhibiting signs of PANDAS. This stands for Paediatric Auto-immune Neuro-pyschiatric Disease Associated with Streptococcus infection - it’s basically a chronic bacterial infection that causes mental symptoms like obsessive behaviours, tics, irrational fears etc. The symptoms can last for years & be totally debilitating.

Years before, at around 2 years old, he’d had a major regression in behaviours after suspected vaccine damage. His eye contact had gone, his speech had declined, he began spacing out & lots of gastrointestinal problems began (projectile vomiting, constant diarrhea. Diet changes along with supplementation had a great effect on these symptoms over time. By 8 years old the only remaining symptoms were some attention issues. However his father reported that he ensured a very strict diet regime as a precaution against these symptoms returning.

The boys behaviour had suddenly changed at 10 years old. He’d gone from a loving, compliant boy & turned into a bit of a demon! He had Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (constantly washing his hands), extreme aggressive behaviour, poor appetite, a sallow appearance & sunken cheeks, spitting, cursing and confessing to having bad thoughts. He couldn’t stand to be in his father’s company & was constantly fighting with him. He also tested positive for Streptococcus bacteria & Cox-Sackie virus. Lots of interventions ensued - IVIG 3 times, lots of antibiotics, antivirals, 5 days of prednisone, Zoloft. All to no avail.

The dad suspected PANDAS, and came to me because of my reputation treating this condition.

I wasn’t convinced, from the beginning I suspected that the dynamics in the family were what was causing the son’s behaviour. I dutifully started treated the son, but insisted on remedies for the mother & father as well, as I believed the son’s behaviour was simply a reaction to his father's controlling way. A few prescriptions later & we were no further forward. Finally the son had went to Central America with his mother over the summer, leaving his dad behind. NOW I could work on him!

The father reported being small for his age at school & was subjected to bullying. Because of this he became interested in weight training & martial arts. He still continues these interests today, taking part in mixed martial arts tournaments and extreme fitness challenges with the special forces. He also frequented prostitutes on a regular basis, but had problems being intimate with his wife. THIS was the key to the case, I felt. The father’s inadequacies had followed him into adulthood. He was trying to be assertive & controlling within the family, but felt inadequate, not respected & powerless (any homeopaths in the audience will be shouting out the remedy by now!).

I gave the father a remedy called Lycopodium & waited.

Result: the father became MUCH more relaxed & comfortable in his skin & ALL the son’s symptoms miraculously disappeared!

No symptoms remain, their relationship is back to being loving. The dad is much less obsessive & controlling with the son’s diet.

A few little sugar balls had resolved what the might of pharmaceutical medicine failed to do.

Very interesting how much we affect each other...

Thank You Alan 4 sharing this situation between Father & Son.

Will pass this along to Linda.

Cheers !!

Amazing story Alan! Great work as always. Its really hard to believe how deep some of the issues can go and you seem to be very good in finding the connections. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! I didn't know that homeopathy would look for and treat a root cause such as this one -- where the root cause was NOT the actual patient requesting treatment.
You have opened my eyes. Thanks Alan!

Do you treat things like PTSD and addictions too?

Yes, it's got some amazing uses CC, I tend to talk about the detox cases as they are easier for a lay audience to appreciate. There is nothing that comes close to homeopathy for treating mental/emotional causes of diseases. Grief, abuse, abandonment, fear, jealously etc etc... loads of good treatments for them...& I'm talking about the remedy allowing the body to process the emotion it's 'stuck' in & move on, not just suppress some symptoms like allopathy.

I took the vow of celibacy in 1906. I had not shared my thoughts with my wife until then, but only consulted her at the time of making the vow. She had no objection.

Just curious what your philosophy is on posology? Did you give a single high dose to the father or multiple lower doses of the remedy while working up the potency scale?

Good job on keeping your treatment focus broad and not just honing in on the kid.

I'm pragmatic, I gave a few doses a week to see the reaction. When I was satisfied I was 'on the money' I increased the frequency, then increased the potency. I find we need to be persistent nowadays & give multiple doses, in older (less polluted & distracted) times, one or two doses would have been sufficient.
