Green tea is many of us favorite as it is rich in micronutrients called catechins. This item in green tea helps to dwindle the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. It is an amazing beverage that makes us focus on studies or work for a significant amount of time. As every healthy option has some amount of side effects that have to be noted in order to benefit the maximum out of it, this item is no exemption. Lets check the crucial side effects of green tea.

Iron Absorption

Some people like to consume this tea along with a healthy food. This kind of eating may result in some adverse effects. Green tea has the potential to inhibit the absorption of nonheme iron that you get from an egg, dairy and plant-based meal. Iron is a very important nutrient and it has to be included in every meal. Impairment of the absorption could lead to bleak effects. To avoid this, add a few drops of lemon juice into it. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C which allows a body to absorb iron even if you are consuming along with iron, but remember it does just to a certain extent.

Caffeine effects

Few people tend to have more cups of green tea every day. Having more cups leads to problems related to nervousness, abnormal heartbeat, and shakiness, especially for some who are naturally less tolerant to caffeine. Moreover, higher caffeine intake inhibits calcium absorption, which affects your bone health.

Sugar intake

Some people like to add few crystals of sugar or few drops of honey. Green tea has to be consumed without sweeteners to get maximum benefits. Overconsumption of sugar leads to devastating effects. A healthy beverage is supposed to be healthy and should not be afflicted to health issues. Manufacturers predispose consumers by deceptively labeled that shows extra flavor and sweet. Don’t get carried away by the flavors. Discern the natural green tea and enjoy it.

In a nutshell, adding a few drops of lemon juice will enable our body to absorb iron to a certain extent while having it with the meal. Moderation is always recommended with no sugar or any other sweeter for that matter.

nice post, im a big fan of green tea myself and drink it quite regularly. i do try to avoid all the extras they put in. the best is to drink just green tea with nothing added!
