Air Pollution is very deadly. It is a major environmental risk to our health. It is a national health emergency! It's effects on our health are severe; just they’re not immediately killing like Ebola/Dengue/H1N1 and thus not getting attention but It is a silent killer. Each year, globally approximately 7 million deaths are due to both outdoor and indoor air pollution, among theses over 2 million is in South East Asian region.

It is responsible for 36% of deaths from lung cancer , 34% of deaths from stroke and 27% of deaths from heart disease. According to WHO, air pollution causes 1 in 9 deaths worldwide. 9 out of 10 people worldwide breathe polluted air!

Who are at increased risk from air pollution?

  • Elderly people
  • Children under 5 years of age
  • Pregnant women
  • Peple suffering from respiratory diseases, especially from COPD
  • Cardiovascular patients
