We made it baby! First attempt went successful!

Okay, I have been away from the laptop for a few days now due to Chinese New Year (three days only mah!).

And three days ago, I posted THIS, something about an armpit product and in fact it was a good teaser of what's coming up next!

I was so inspired by the concept (safe ingredients, no nasties) that I had to try making up some for friends and family. If it works for me, I am sure it is good to share. So I told my daughter that we could explore making it since she is still on school holiday today. She was super excited!

I have made some handcrafted skincare stuff (scrub & cleanser) before this but they are only for family usage. Making this deodorant is a first for me because the process can be a little tedious. Not only you need to get the ingredients, measurement and consistency right, missed an important step you will end up with a clumpy or burnt smell finish.

Now I understand why HANDCRAFTED products CAN BE PRICEY. Not only they are painstakingly made by hand, the quality ingredients and time put into producing it added to the effort too.

I have a good friend coming down from Australia that I had to bugged her the day before yesterday (like last minute request!) getting some supplies for me from the health store in Australia. Based on my research, some ingredients are hard to source here in Malaysia. Thank God she lives nearby some health stores and she could swing by and get them en-route the airport.

So this afternoon, she dropped by the items and we chatted for a while. So I promised her I will make her a jar! Thank you Lilly!

I am very particular of the ingredients, so I made sure that I only use natural and organic. I can assure you no chemicals were added into the handcrafted deodorant. No preservatives, bleach and colorings. We use only pure organic essential oils and plant based.

Why handcrafted? Because we did everything by hand. No heavy machines involved. So for this batch, we make only 15 jars. One for Lilly, three for her friends and extra remaining balance for me and the extra 10 we intend to sell it away. We have 5 jars of Lavender + Rosemary scent and 5 jars of Lavender + Rosemary & Clary Sage scent.

Portion of the sales we will donate it to the rescued animal’s treatment and one of them is Miracle.

Who is Miracle? You will see her picture and a bit of her story HERE. Miracle needs fund for her ongoing care, we won’t be able to raise much but every bit helps. Miracle is now under the foster care of SI Shelter owner.

There is another one that needs help too, an independent animal rescuer Sheni takes in cats that has been affected by Sporotrichosis. Sporotrichosis is a disease affecting cats mostly and it is also known as "rose gardener's disease". The disease is caused by the infection of fungus called Sporothrix Schenckii.

This fungal disease affects the skin (the fungus eats the skin & flesh) although in certain cases the disease can also affect the lungs, joints, bones and even the brain.

If you wish to support us, it is only 3SBD each (for Steemians), if you do not have enough we accept cash too. Email your address to [email protected] so we can post it to you. Postage fee is inclusive. Any extra donation, we will channel the extras to the cause. We will also enlist down donors names here on Steemit.

We had so much fun doing it together!

But the cleaning part after that is not easy because we need to ensure we wipe off the Shea butter well from every utensils used, they are so slippery and rich (think Vaseline on both your hands)! Thank God for disposable kitchen towel.

The texture and consistency is beautiful!

I can assure you again, the deodorant smells heavenly! The calming smell from Organic Lavender, Rosemary and Clary Sage is wonderful! Not only they are good for your armpits, they kill off the smell and bacteria that's causing the smell too.

The finished product up close in a 30gm jar, can last you for about 3-4 months. Use it very little, just scoop a bit using your index finger and gently wipe on your armpit. You can put it in fridge if you want to keep it fresh longer.

It's still CNY, so we decorate it with mini oranges!

Nevertheless, we wish to thank in advance to all that supported this mini project.

We will definitely explore to do more of these for a good cause. Next on our list are shampoos and lip balm! Looking forward to hear from you soon!
