Haibun (1)
a summer noon -
an abandoned high heel shoe
lying in tall grass
The process of creating this haiku started when I took my dog for a walk into a nearby meadow. The dog was sniffing about and doing his business as usual and I was enjoying the beautiful summer day. The grass on the meadow was uncut and the blades seemed very sharp and overgrown. Suddenly I caught a glimpse of a grey shape between the leaves. I couldn't make it out exactly so I approached it and squatted to see better. To my surprise it was a grey suede high heel shoe lying on the ground. Where it came from? To whom it belonged? Why was there only one? It was a meadow not very often, if ever, frequented by party-goers or power women. I thought this could be a beginning of a love story - two lovers on a picnic or a very sinister crime story - a woman vanished and this is what was left of her...
