Thoughts on habits

in #habits5 years ago

We all have habits either good or bad, bu habits at the end. Quitting a habit is harder than building one. When you want to do something in a frequent manner you need to build up the habit. I'm trying to build up meditation habit, yoga habit and also few habits that are related with my steemit life.

How to choose a habit?

When you want to get started on a new activity make sure to slowly get used to the new habit and then increase the time you spend on that activity. Try to get into positive habits firsts rather than the negative ones because it is easier to get started on something positive than quitting something. If you have the chance to get started in a new habit make sure to positive influence people you like or make something that can influence their lives. Hopefully you will get your new habit and then also positive impact someone other peoples life.

What am I trying to achieve now?

Hopefully I will be able to give you some insights in the positive habit embracing and share the newly acquire knowledge as I go. I want to be able to positive influence you and encourage you to get new habits in your life. I would be very happy to see which habits you will be trying to get in your life.
As part of this I'm trying to read more and learn a new skill by the end of the year. I'm currently trying to learn and understand how does trying work.

Every habit should progressively increase over time but the main idea is to get started and rolling even if it is just a 1 minute meditation, reading or exercise. A habit is not build over excessive time but frequency and persistence.

Do not be hard on you

You need to be able to forgive yourself for not being perfect all the time, in fact no one is. We unconsciously create this idea and judge others with it and by the fact that we judge others we will end up doing 2 things: judging ourselves and building a bad habit.

Accept and enjoy others happiness and success

I personally tend to judge first, think how and then do a profound analysis on someone else success and this is my bad habit. I really want to stop doing that and be able to honestly be happy for others success without judging me and judging others. Happiness starts by really knowing you are doing what you can and make others happy along the way. On the other hand many other bad things happen when you are comparing and judging others, stay honest and try not to do it. Many would like the result of someone else journey but will not even try to follow that path.

I love this post because it drives home the concept of habit creation (good or bad while being mindful of judgement. The habit in itself is neither good nor bad, it's all about how it sits with you. Judgement of others is just another way to stand in judgement of yourself. My experience has been that once you turn the focus on yourself without judgement, it is so easy to be happy with the success of others.

I really appreciate your insights. I think we really think alike and I'm happy to cross paths in this amazing journey. I hope your evening will be great, looking forward for a beer and chart analysis with you some day.
