Or for me, Black Gunday...

No, I wasn't able to buy this sweet futuristic looking beauty, but it was the best $10 I spent today!

That handgun is an integrally suppressed 9mm made by Silencerco called the Maxim 9. It is almost Hollywood quiet when using the right ammo and is extremely smooth to shoot. I was able to rent it to try it out and if I had the spare cash I think I would have bought one on the spot!

I took my dad and youngest sister to the range today and we had a great time blasting away for a little while.

After some minimal coaching my sister was hammering out nice consistent groups like she'd been shooting her whole life!

It was a great time spent with family and a fun bonding moment. Who says you gotta buy stuff to make yourself or others happy?

That's a pretty nice grouping for someone that is not used to shooting.

Sure was! I was mainly concerned with safe handling since this was her first time shooting at all. So I first just told her "line up the sights so everything is equal" and she was on target with that, but hitting high. I told her to make sure the top of the front sight was even with the top of the rear sight and the photo shows her next 6 rounds at about 7 yards, haha.

Well 7 yards is closer than I thought, but if she ever needs to use one on someone, then they will probably be around that distance anyway. She'd get their attention with that kind of shooting.

Especially with those that are new or don't shoot much I like to build their confidence around that distance or a little closer to get the basics down. No sense pushing it out beyond that if they can't even consistently put rounds the same place at close distance. The principles are still the same wether you're shooting at 3 yards or 300 yards, you can just get away with more inconsistency at closer distance. And like you said, 21 feet or much closer is the average distance at least for average citizen use of a handgun.

Nice I can't even own one here. But I've always thought they were neat looking.
