Growth-Idea: The Steem College/University Scholarship FundsteemCreated with Sketch.

Steemit can set up a fund for 5 individuals a year to help ease the payments of their schooling. It could be $5,000 USD per student, which is enough to go to university in Canada for a year. This would benefit both the site with new users and press and help some students lessen the financial load for their future. As the price of steem is going up, the ability to fund projects, with money, is becoming easier.

The first step is applying for the fund. This would all be done through steemit. You would set up an account and then there would be a set number of posts you would have to do to qualify. What you post can depend on your subject of study. You might have to write a couple of essays if you want to be a doctor. Or write a few short stories if you are going for a major in English. The posts do not all have to be written and people who are going to school for the arts can upload photos of their projects. There can even be one for programming students to make a small app for steemit. The people uploading the posts will get to keep all the money they make from the posts themselves and even if they are not one of the people picked, maybe they will find another method to help them fund their schooling.

When the 5 people are picked, they will have to do 1-2 posts a week to keep their scholarship. They can write posts about their experience on campus or share their essays and projects with steemit. This site is great for students, they have to do written work anyways to pass their courses. And again, they will keep all their money from their posts, they might even make more from their posts than the fund itself.

The real question is how do we decide who to pick. I think a counsel of people would be the best option, we do not want to turn this into a popularity contest. I also think we should not exclude people who want to go back to school or who are in their 50s and missed the chance to go to University. This is a great way to fund talented people who want to better themselves.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
