I don't think that's a Reddit specific problem, as some people are just little wannabe tyrants.
While I have had my own run ins with a few Reddit mods, I have also had that problem elsewhere.
Have you tried posting the full text in r/BOINC and added a link to the Steemit posts as well?
Also check to see if there are other r/BOINC mods to talk with
