What is Gridcoin?
Gridcoin securely rewards BOINC computation on top of Proof of Stake. Reward allocation is distributed, not centralized unlike other distributed computing related cryptocurrencies.

I am testing out an idea which would allow Linux nodes to stake superblocks once the Windows nodes have reached a consensus. The idea is for the Linux nodes to fetch the voted contract from the Windows nodes and include it in the staked blocks. It's not meant as a replacement for the portable NN as the Linux nodes are still unable to create the contracts themselves, but if it works it could make superblocks spawn faster and more reliable.
@roboticmind and I have been talking about ways to improve the voting process, if only to verify that the host is a human being:

biometrics from mouse input, as well as building a neural network inside the wallet to verify results against each other... it's all very complicated, and i'm doing a poor job of explaining it. please go see the github issue. :)
