So as you all have guessed from the title of this gem, the Steemit Greeters Guild (@greetersguild) is soon to be launching a new community driven contest event that is well in the workings of becoming a community wide co-op event. This is truly something to behold and certainly worth getting excited about, especially with it being SGG's first official contest event since our inception so time ago. For those of you who do not know me, I am the man, the myth and the legend, Lucky, or as I am commonly known on the Steemit platform, that asshole (@terminallyill) 😂 Just a little humor to throw in the mix folks, excuse my French but I needed a little giggle to myself. So, I have been working tirelessly with @cryptkeeper17 and @davemccoy to develop a contest event that will blow your minds, grow this community rapidly AND help us ALL do our part in combating one of the major issues this platform is currently facing, the account lifespan crisis. In this brief article, I give some insight into not only the event, but our goals, what you can do to help and also some tech specs on the crisis at hand. So please, take in this information and prepare yourselves for the upcoming contest event which is about to be released!

THE STEEMIT ACCOUNT LIFESPAN CRISIS

So Steemit is going through yet another incredibly threatening crisis that can cause a great deal of harm if not attended to in even the slightest fashion. This one doesn't stem from flag wars over reward pool abuse, it doesn't even stem from the money grubbing witnesses that currently sit high atop the peak of the platform, this one stems from the very accounts each user of the platform has access to. The situation at hand is that Steemit is steadily growing, especially with mainstream social media outlets like ZuckerBook coming to a head and beginning to decline in use. With nearly one million accounts registered on the platform, it is safe to say that Steemit is on it's way to becoming a leading community social media site. But with new accounts, comes the struggles of our new users that we all have faced or currently are dealing with. These struggles cause new users to abandon the platform, leaving behind an inactive account and a void where they once operated. Multiply this number by several thousand, on a monthly basis, and you can see why new accounts going cold is not only creating a dead zone on Steemit, but creating a situation that can turn really bad if not attended to. This is the Steemit Account Lifespan Crisis.

WHERE DOES THE STEEMIT GREETERS GUILD COME INTO PLAY?

The Steemit Greeters Guild of course has been stepping in since our founding to combat the issue at hand by doing what we do best, making new Steemit users feel welcomed and helping them learn, earn and grow. Now, SGG is hosting it's very own main stream contest event that is destined to stretch far and wide across the Steemit platform. The premise of this event is easy, offer prizes to the community for interacting with this event. There will be several shares to @steembasicincome up for grabs as well as a nice chunk of SBD. SGG is going to be the primary sponsor and host this event, meaning we will be going out and finding new members to join this great opportunity as well as issuing a substantial amount of rewards for participation.

WHAT IS THE BASIS OF THE CONTEST?

Well, to sum it up, this will be a week long event hosted by SGG that requires participants to post a copy of their latest pieces of work in hopes of their quality content being hand picked as a recipient of one of the many prizes up for grabs. Aside from that, each entry is guaranteed a minimum upvote of 0.01SBD. There are also add-ons to the contest to guarantee that a participant earns extra rewards such as following the @greetersguild, @terminallyill and @cryptkeeper17 curation trails on SteemAuto. Along with that comes upvotes on the link you entered into the contest with. Last but not least, we are paying a bounty directly to folks who wish to become "emergency greeters" and who go out in the platform and greet for us, bringing in new members and prospects that we can aid in their journey,

WHAT REWARDS ARE AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW FOR SIDE QUESTS

To give a quick run down on this, we are offering paid bounties directly from us for people to complete a few tasks that go hand in hand with this contest event. First, we are offering a paid bounty of 0.10 SBD for each person who joins the curation trails of @cryptkeeper17, @terminallyill and @greetersguild. So, by going to SteemAuto and joining all three with a 100% upvote weight, you can earn 0.30 SBD right off of the bat. We are also paying our greeters 0.05 SBD for each person that they bring to the guild that enters this contest event during the lifespan of this contest. An additional 0.05 SBD is paid for each person who enters this contest as well as joins a curation trail named above (which can be an additional 0.15 SBD if they join all three). If someone completes ALL of the side missions for this contest event, they will be entered for a chance to win a prize of 2 shares to Steem Basic Income from @terminallyill directly once the contest event is officially over. So there it is, numerous ways to earn an additional set of rewards ASIDE from joining the contest directly!

WHAT WE NEED FROM EVERYONE TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT

Basically we need everyone to support this contest even not just for the sake of the event, but for the sake of the platform. First and foremost we need everyone to do their part in spreading the word about this by resteeming this post and building the groundswell before the contest releases in just some hours from now. We also need folks to go ahead and start completing these side missions listed above, to get the wheels in motion. Here comes a key part to everything, we need people to consider sponsoring a prize for this event. It doesn't have to be anything crazy, basically whatever you can throw at us. Whether it be a share to SBI or a little SBD, your name will be used in our sponsor list when we release this contest and we will use the sponsored prize in combination of our prize pool to sweeten the pot for all involved.
