NASA List of House Plants Best To Purify Your HomesteemCreated with Sketch.

Clean the air in your home with these NASA proven plants.

Without realizing it we often make our homes toxic in an effort to clean it and make it comfortable. The things we bring in to our home as well as the outside air getting in can all build up inside. I will detail three plants and their special air purifying powers.

Cleaning products, even your furniture, decorations and construction materials have formaldehyde and other toxins. Not to mention if you live with a smoker, but let’s not scapegoat them for all the pollution in the air.

“Formaldehyde is a colourless gas that is commonly found in the indoor air of homes. It can be emitted from building materials and furnishings, in particular those made from pressed-wood products with formaldehyde-based adhesives. It is also a by-product of combustion and can enter indoor air from sources such as smoking, vehicle exhaust, wood-burning fireplaces and stoves, and improperly vented gas or oil burning appliances.” http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ewh-semt/pubs/air/formaldehyde/fact-info-eng.php

This could be in the air in your home or office right now. Xylene and other pollutants just as toxic and found in similar places.

My point is pretty much everyone’s home has some bad air, it can’t be avoided, it’s the nature of things you could say; but the good news is we can reduce it. It’s even worse if you live in a smoggy city.

These plants are scientifically proven by NASA to clean your homes air better than any other plant. They were tested in space during the 19080’s space missions. Now they’re testing algae as a better option but let’s keep it simple.

🌷 Anyone who has plants would agree they make anywhere you live a better home.🌷
Plants give off an aura we can all connect with whether you feel it or not they certainly do. We all know that person whose home is like a botanical garden with plants and flowers occupying every space and window. Isn’t that a good memory?

The air in your home is probably dirtier than the air outside as it has less circulation especially in the cold winters when we close the windows. You could, and many do, use high tech air purifiers which by all means do a solid job of cleaning the air but they do increase your carbon foot print.

People are happier with plants and flowers inside your home. The plants not only clean the air but bring people a little closer to nature even in the big cities. Your pets will love them too. My cats are constantly knocking plants over and as much as it makes a mess I do understand why.

Introducing 3 of the best plants every home should have to keep the air in your home the best it can be. Using a combination of plants each with different specialties would be ideal if you have the green thumb.
(There are many other plants that do comparable jobs, these ones are easiest to grow)

❶Spider Plants

An incredibly easy to grow plant that can manage several days with a forgetful owner not remembering to give it water. They can survive alright without tons of direct sunlight making them ideal for home without direct sunlight such as apartments.

Cleans formaldehyde from the air as well as xylene while pumping out sweet O2.

❷Rubber Plants / Rubber Figs

This easy plant doesn’t need a heavy dose of sunlight and keeping them in a dim area is fine. They like dry places and can go days without watering but they won’t flourish.

Cleans the air of formaldehyde.
Oh yea, they can grow quite tall if you get the right species.

❸Peace Lily

This one has some colour and is still easy to care for though like all flowers they do pollinate. Low light is ok with moist soil best.

This flower gives off nice smell as well cleans the air of ammonia benzene formaldehyde and trichloroethylene.

Never know NASA are into plants too though I have read a few post elsewhere about air purifying plants and recognise the look of a few of them.
Here's a reason why we had some interest some time back:

Even one florist/nursery smart enough to do this:

Yea. in china a lot of people have house plants specific to clean the air are quite popular.

the ones in those links u included are very useful. I would like to have more colourful plants like those but the flowering ones need more care than I usually remember to do. ><

Any plants in your home will help the air. NASA studied a bunch of others as well. Air purifying plants are big business in mainland China. People aren't stupid about the bad air here, they are helpless to fix it unless the gov wants to. Which they don't want to because they are all making big money and living in clean places so not gonna happen anytime soon. So the people must do what they can.

Do you have any plants in your home? You must because you have a wife and son so i guess yes. but which ones?

I have plant outside. I've been wanting to get one of those indoor ones that is less maintenance. Probably, the Sansevieria
No kids, have wife.:-)

oh . i thought i saw a child in a past post,my mistake. Every home should have Aloe Vera, cleans air and can be used as medicine on skin for burns and some other ailments. Boston Ferns are super easy to keep and you might be able to find them growing outside along the roads in northern North America. Doubt they are expensive to buy they very easy plants to grow and grow fast. I see them for sale at all the plant shops in Dalian but i can dig one up pretty much anywhere. lol.

It grows beside all the marijuana plants , for real. lol

If I have an Aloe Vera, it'll be outside the house and harvested for consumption. :-)
