The eye through which you see your country matters a lot. Patriotism is key to having a loving and healthy Nation. If each and everyone in any given country have a sense of patriotism, the country will be a better place to live and will sure go far in its quest for handing down a united nation to the next Generation.

A patriot according to dictionary.com “is one who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.”

Where exactly am I going with this? Today is #gratitudeday30 and there is no other thing to be grateful for today but my beloved country Nigeria. Yes, I am too grateful for this country and I love my country Nigeria. We are strong and tenacious. We are resilient and have so much capacity to withstand any and every adversity that tends to threaten our Unity. This is the country I know will go through such turbulent seasons but you still find standing. Nigeria has not fully come to its full potentials in terms of harnessing all its human and material resources but we are greatly feared and revered by the so called developed countries.

The reason why so many of us might not have pleasant experiences is not far from the fact that we do not see any good in our blessed country. Honestly, I do not blame you.
Isaiah 1:19 states clearly that; “if you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. There is so much good in the land if only we will be patient enough to get a full grasp of it.

It can be quite unfortunate that Nigeria is such a funny country where our leaders connive with contractors to give a low specification of materials to other countries to bring into our country. Integrity is not one of the virtues we uphold. You see our leaders displaying all manner of funny drama in the house of assembly and the House of Representatives. You cannot but ask if they realize they are being watched all over the world let alone realizing they are somebody’s father and mother and are modeling a legacy for the coming generation. It pains my heart when you see some youths wasting their present and future following politicians around not as their P.A’s but as their thugs they use for their dirty works, not realizing their own children are in the best of schools within and outside the shores of this country.
The above and several other reasons would have formed the basis for which you have lost confidence in the rising of this country.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Despite all this, we cannot afford to sit and watch things keep going bad. We will end up sharing in the fault.

Proverbs 29:2 states that “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.

We need to do the little we can as citizens to address core issues and stand for the right thing. It starts from little things such as not jumping the queue, following due process while doing anything, keeping to appointment times; not falsifying office resumption times likes its common in the civil service and the likes.

A friend of mine told me how recently he sued one of the big commercial banks in the country the country and he won the case and was paid the sum of #3million Nigerian naira. Oh yes! In his words, “I need to start teaching this cooperate organisations how to pay attention to details and do their jobs with utmost integrity." He has sued another major airline operator again for delaying his flight without an explanation and the case is on.

My GRATITUDE
So sorry, it’s suppose to be a gratitude post. I am grateful I am a Nigerian, and I am glad and grateful Nigeria will and is getting better because people are getting more aware of their rights and realizing it’s high time we began to do it right and not just take the back seat. Do you have any idea what other countries that have natural disasters are going through at all? Hmm! I am just grateful we do not have any natural disaster of any kind, perhaps you and I may not be on #steemit but out there saving lives in danger of such disasters. I am grateful I still have such faith in this country and I believe in the rising to greatness of this blessed country Nigeria.

I AM A PATRIOT, AND I AM GRATEFUL.

Thank You.
