[Grateful Vibes] I'm Grateful for @sevinwilson - A Short History of the STEEM round and Unboxing
Today a very special package arrived in the mail.
One of the greatest features of Steemit, is the ability to interact with and trade with other Steemians. I came across this post by @sevinwilson offering his Silver Steemit Rounds for sale. I saw the opportunity and found him on discord. The rest, as they say, is history.
As a bonus, he said that with every purchase, he will also make a donation to @Steemsilverround to go towards the 2018 model coin, which is in development right now. How cool is that?
Who is @sevinwilson?
Opening his box of STEEM silver rounds.
He's the man who came up with the idea of a STEEM silver round. About five months ago an idea was presented... a physical silver STEEM round. Something that wasn't 'virtual', it was tangible. Something you can hold in your hand. Something that represents the community on Steemit.com
Next came the contest.
The design for the coin was offered to the steemit.com community. @sevinwilson even came up with a couple of his own designs.
I like this simple design, although it did not win.
This is the one I voted for, but it also did not win.
The Winner?
The fish design on the left by @bearone won the contest, with the one beneath it by @silverstackeruk won second place. The fish design eventually was modified to show little fish growing up into orcas and whales.
The final, winning design.
The STEEM round goes into production.
These photos were all provided by @phelimint Thanks for all that you do!
The STEEM die obverse.
The STEEM die revers.
Engraving the serial number on the side of the coin. It appears to be 0397 of 1500
All stacked up ready for encapsulation.
All neatly organized and packaged by @phelimint.
First shipment all ready to go.
Many thanks to @phelimint and @ejr for their efforts in this project!
@sevinwilson and that package.
I saw that he was offering the 2017 STEEM round for trade in ACTUAL STEEM. I made the plunge. I always marvel how simple it is to make purchases using crypto. A few seconds and... done.
And before I knew, it had arrived!
I wrote this post as a thankyou to @sevinwilson and an opportunity to compile a short history of the STEEM silver round.
I'm grateful for the opportunity that he has brought to the Steemit community, not only with inspiring this round, but also his encouragement to young steemians, interaction with others on this platform, and inspiration to embark on projects such as a smart node.
Thank you Sevin Wilson! I appreciate the opportunity to to trade STEEM for silver. What a pleasure and honor.
What will the 2018 round look like?
Maybe something like this design by @skeptic?
Or like this also by @skeptic?
Only time will tell. Steem on! To the moon!
What a great post!!! This is what Steem is all about!! Added two beautiful pieces to your stack!!
I realized I am such a goofball!
Not a goofball, an expert Smart Node dude! @ironshield
@ironshield a very nice post as a Thank You for the Bad Ass STEEMIT Silver Rounds that are very collectible.
I wonder what the 2020 round will look like? Gold probably, since STEEM will be over $100. @ironshield
Ibstill have to get me one lol. Procrastinating is a strong point for me 😁
Gotta get them while they're available. @ironshield
The steemit coin is really nice, I wish I'd had the money to get one of the original batch, but of course that never came to pass. Maybe some day I'll have enough to purchase from a future batch. :D
I can't wait to see what the next one looks like. :D Its so cool that the design(s) all came/come from fellow Steemians. :D There are so many talented, forward thinking Steemians on steemit.com and they come up with some wonderful things to share with us all. :D Thank you to them all. :D
God bless you. :D Have an awesome day! :D
Most people will accept STEEM for the rounds, makes things much easier! @ironshield
That will be fantastic, paying in STEEM, I mean. :D Have an awesome day! :D
Thanks. I missed part of the (recent) history. On YouTube their are also individuals with their own rounds. (Salivate/Junius Maltby incl gold round /Silver Slacker )
I like the private mintage rounds. There are usually an interesting story. @ironshield
The coins looks cool. I would like to grab one myself. Thanks for letting me know about this.
I'm sure there still some sellers out there. @ironshield
It is very pretty and classic..good to have you share this @ironshield
Thank you! @ironshield
This is one of the coolest things i have ever seen on steemit.. this is absolutely amazing.. and the design that won was truely marvelous .. it shows that how little fish on steemit become whales and then push other little fish towards prosperity.. brilliant..
great post too..
It's a neat design. @bearone did a great job! It'll be interesting to see the 2018 model. @ironshield
I heard about this silver. I appreciate the craft although I am in no position to buy silver.
The best part, in my opinion, is the option to purchase using STEEM. Appropriate, I think. @ironshield
