It is hard to generalize - G+ users, like any other collection of thousands of people, are a mixed bag. But most of the ones I have met are smart - smarter than average. I think pluspora was the first thing that came to the attention of many, and it was easy to join and make a start - but there is a lot of investigation going on right now.
As a first glance impression, I would say that steemit comes across as heavily focused on monetization of content. There is nothing wrong with that, but because so much of the in-steemit content has that as a subject, one who is not focused on that aspect has a little bit harder time finding content that IS of interest. But first impressions are sometimes incorrect . . .
