WEDNESDAY CO-CORRUCULAR [PRACTICAL WORK] FOR JETS AND SCIENCE CLUB.
This experiment is to determine the density of liquid (kerosene)
MATERIALS USED ARE:
- metre rule
- beaker
- knife edge
- masses (50 and 100g)
- water
The metre rule is balanced horizontally on the knife edge.
Place the 50g mass at one end and the 100g mass at the other end.
Balance the system on the knife edge by maintaining the centre if the rule.
Then, place the liquid (beaker filled with kerosene) at one end.
Adjust the metre rule so that it balances horizontally on the knife edge.
Take your readings.
Repeat the experiment when the 100g mass is immersed in the water.
Read and record your reading. Ensure that the weightbof object in water must be subtracted from the weight when in air.
Also, subtract the weight of object in kerosene from the weight in air.
Then the weight of the liquid can now be gotten.
