Day 7 Antarctic Expedition on the M/V Island Sky

It is our last full day of crossing the Drake Passage for the last time this 2017/2018 season. Its a day full of cleaning and packing up all your gear, as well as, reflecting the time, experiences and people I’ve met.

I decided it would be great and it has turned into somewhat of a tradition to get up early on the last cruising day to watch the sunrise - weather pending of course. It was calm and well worth waking up at 545am to be on the outer decks to watch the sun rise over the calm Drake passage.

This has to be one of my favourite quotes from a truly inspirational woman, which I focus on when deciding on big life changes. Well, the remainder of the duties for the day was conducting my last presentation on Humpback whales and scanning the calm waters for any last day mammal sightings - so far no luck.

Well, I can now see land and the Beagle Channel, which potentially means more dolphin encounters & possibly southern right whales too. So, I am off to scan one last time on the outer observation decks before continuing to finish my packing for the last time this season.
