Lorikeets returning to roost at sunset Coolum Beach Australia

Sitting on the balcony of my mums apartment overlooking Coolum Beach we witnessed the evening return of the thousands of rainbow lorikeets to their roost in the beachside Norfolk Island pine trees.

I hope you enjoy the short video I’ve shared so you could hear the cacophony of their calls.

For those that don’t know what a Rainbow Lorikeet looks like.

Oww those trees are stunning!! And the sounds from those birds are lovely, we saw some in a bird park when we were in Singapore!

They are beautiful, it’s a shame they’re coming to the end of their lives. We lost one during a storm recently and a couple more are showing signs of stress.

Awww no what a shame! I always find it so sad when they die, lets hope the keep going a while longer!

That's awesome!

You know what's almost as awesome?

A few years ago, we (my family and I) were close to that very same apartment on holiday!

We liked to watch the people park at the roadside, change into their surfing gear and go surfing. They'd be back later in the day to do the same thing.

We adored Coolum! Everyone was so friendly.

That’s awesome. This is my home town I’m glad you enjoyed your visit here. The surfers getting changed by the road wrapped in a towel is a popular spectator sport.

Haha! Yes it was!

Yeah, we really did enjoy our visit. We were there to see if we could emigrate. Unfortunately, I don't think the heat would do me any favours and we stayed here in the UK. But Coolum is definitely on our list to make a return visit if the opportunity ever arises.

Yes well this week wasn’t much fun with very humid days around 33-35c but the nights were worse not going below 26c makes it hard to sleep. But I say we get 3 weeks where it’s too hot and 3 where it’s too cold and the rest of the time is pretty good. I hope to see you back down here one day. Having a Steemup here tomorrow so keep an eye out for a post.

The picture is awesome, the breeze there will definitely be cool and gentle. Seeing 2 white SUV of the same model in the first picture. I wish the owner can dash me one

Lol I hadn’t even noticed the cars. Too busy with the birds and the view.

Great Post!
I enjoy bird watching a lot!
