How beautiful, Michael! I love the walls and formations they make with the stone. I have to wonder the reason behind it? I mean, what a huge task with no modern equipment, even with modern equipment!

Isn't it funny how we skip so much of our own area to go and see the world? I look forward to more!

Tip!

My son took some drone footage of just the area we were in and it is covered with these stone walls. very impressive and as you say.

a huge task with no modern equipment

All done by hand over 100's of years. It's truly incredible. Thanks for the tip Denise. I'll have to power up my tip machine :-)

Beautiful photos! I'm looking forward to a complete tour from you!

I have a lot of photo processing to do and as I get more of them done. I'll share them for sure. Loved your mountain photos btw :-)

Your first pictures are so picturesque.

Thanks Mike. I'm finally getting the hang of this camera lark :-)

what a beautiful ara, and I thought the same when I was in one area that had many of these rock walls they were a huge undertaking

The stone walls are just incredible in the amount of them that cover this region. Very impressive for sure.
The terrain reminded me somehow of New Zealand and the Lord of the Rings movie. I love this place and can't believe I never went there before. I've been all over the world but not all over the UK? :-)

I agree the English countryside can be very similar tot he NZ countryside,
I travelled a lot around the UK, I used to follow the All Blacks on their tours, catch the weekend test and then just head off wherever to see some of the countryside I much prefer that to the cities in most places I visit

I love watching the All Blacks when they do their thing. I need to visit NZ to sometime.

Thats one thing i really miss here they seldom show the All Black games Live, occassionally they may show sevens tournaments, I am hoping they may show the world cup since the USA has qualified

love this area! can't wait to go back some day

It is a stunning environment. I'm already planning another trip.

Oh gosh! it’s so beautiful. Those landscapes just seem to call to me…

Were the walls built as a single organized project? Or, were they built more organically by individual land holders over generations of use?

When you think of all the many generations of people that built this environment. It is quite amazing?
